is obama the total genius with bringing hillary into the fold? is it a ruse cuz bill can’t pass the vet? was this a test of the leak factor? WFT?

I don’t know enough to decide on the “Pollgasm” question.Just the same, if I were in any position to do so, I would oppose Hillary for ANY position in the Obama admin. I just can’t trust Bill…

I think the expectation of drama is more dramatic than the actual drama coming out of the Clinton camp. I mean, seriously, they are expecting something on the order of two or three mistresses and a Bill Clinton “baby-boom” to suddenly hit the front pages.What’s kind of odd, though, is all this talk about how awesome it would be for Obama to have her because he would be getting Bill too. Most of the articles talk about his connection to every world leader and he’d be the perfect go-between, blah blah blah. Wouldn’t that totally overshadow Hillary as SOS?

Nany that’s an interesting point I hadn’t considered. As SOS I don’t believe anyone would give a rats patuti if Bill made every decision. Maybe he came up with this as a way to get back into the mix without actually having to take a formal position. Provided he and Obama can work together, this is an interesting angle. Hillary on her own isn’t qualified to chaperone High School field trips to foreign lands, but Bill as the man in the shadows, that’s kinda cool, actually.And, he wouldn’t have to spend his nights at foreign dignitary dinners, so he’d be free to scope for local Babes. Win – Win!

Well, my opinion is this.Advantage #1: It would get Hillary out of the Senate,so she couldn’t challenge Obama or present roadblocks when she didn’t agree with him.Advantage #2: It would enhance Obama’s image with her supporters, as he would be seen to be reaching out to her, and giving her a higher profile, possibly more interesting position.Advantage #3: Whatever we say about Bill and his “baggage,” he is very well liked and respected around the world. She naturally would carry a lot of that gravitas around with her, repairing our international relationships and creating cooperation to solve problems.Disadvantage: One of the only ones that I can see is if the vetting isn’t thorough enough, and six months down the road a problem comes up. But knowing Obama, that likelihood is not great.Another one would be dissing Richardson or Kerry if they really wanted the job.

Hillary Clinton would be a disastrous choice for SoS. I’ll blog about it tomorrow. It would be his first horrible decision as president.

I don’t remember saying I hated either one of the Clintons. As for how wonderful it was, I remember Bill Clinton signing DOMA into law and chickening out when it came to gays in the military. In fact, I remember getting discharged from the Navy under Dont Ask Dont Tell. I don’t hate them, but I don’t think their halos shine as brightly as some might.

hey Jen, where u been?Big diff between Clinton Administration and Hillary…like, everything. Being the wife of a surgeon doesn’t afford you a license to pick up a scalpel and “give it a try”.I for one never understood the Hillary aura of greatness. In a very respectful and non-sexist comment I will posit that her cache had more to do with the idea of her being destined to be the first female Pres than it did with her stunning qualifications. Likewise Obama, but in my opinion he openly acknowledged his gap in foreign policy whereas Hillary’s claims of significant experience ring hollow.All candidates being equal I’d prefer Richardson in the role. Capable, connected, loyal, and fits much more with the no drama Obama mantra.All things aren’t equal though. There’s payback afoot, and I see this appointment as the Clintons exacting their personal reward at the expense of the American People. She’ll be OK as SoS, but after all we’ve endured, I’d like to see the Cabinet be filled with the best people possible. There should be no other considerations.

I have heard Bill Maher say on more than one occasion people who dislike the Clintons are projecting their own issues, perhaps because they are ” sexually repressed ” , and that ” Bill Clinton likes sex, and he gets it.” WTF ? That is,” What The Fuck ? ” ( I forgot it’s OK on this blog ). From a 22 yo white house aide ? If disapproving of this behavior means I’m sexually repressed, so be it.

You do realize she’s been _everywhere_. She went to something close to 80 different countries during the 90s, and its not like she hasn’t been going places since then. Many of her diplomatic visits were without Bill. Her ’95 speech in Beijing was hugely important, and extremely daring. She insisted quite loudly in a not terribly encouraging atmosphere that Women’s Rights could no longer be considered seperate from Human Rights. This was a big deal. I think Hillary’s going to make a fantastic Secretary of State.

My reference to a 22 year old was to Bill having sex with Monica Lewinsky, who was 22 at the time.I was raising 4 children when he was in office ( hardly sexually repressed ).What are you talking about with your reference to HIV/AIDS and global warming ? Of course I think the CGI is doing commendable work. And If I disapprove of Bill Clinton’s behavior vis. Jenny. Again. Why do you think Bill getting a BJ negates for me what he did for the country ? My problem here is not with Bill Clinton, but with Bill Maher for minimizing the fact that the President of the United States took advantage of a 22 year old.
