I think the endless speculation of why he chose her is getting out of hand. I mean, we can guess and guess and guess about the strategy behind it (if indeed there is a strategy involved), but ultimately the only one that knows is Barack Obama. I’m not sure, though, that we’ve seen this kind of maneuvering and manipulation of political rivals from him before. He’s still new to the scene. That may be behind the delay of the actual announcement of the offer being made. Maybe her camp is thinking in those old political terms, of what they are being maneuvered into. It might be as simple as he wants her in the position because he respects her and wants her on the team.Granted, she’s free to consider the offer as long as she wants, but the longer she takes the more we get the impression that Hillary Clinton is thinking solely of Hillary Clinton first and service to the country second. It almost affirms everything Obama supporters disliked about her from the beginning.

I wasn’t surprised by the gesture, but the position offered seems odd.But I get most of my news from The Daily Show lately.

Carl re: gypsysoul – I don’t think the he in “he is change” refers to Richardson. I read it as referring to Obama. Seems to me that s/he’s agreeing with your position on that particular issue.

I wonder if Gypsy is freaked out by local Charleston people or teevee people.

Um… anyone watching Countdown? The latest Sarah Palin looked like a British comedy sketch, with her just standing there blathering while some guy slaughters turkeys behind her, and occasionally mugging for the camera. I wish I had written that!

Bob, I finished your book last night and now my sister is reading it. Next, I’ll give it to the library. I don’t think I’m depriving you of income, because they are actually closing some branch libraries in San Diego for lack of funds, and I doubt they are buying books at all. It’s not in their system, and this way they will have at least one copy…. And by the way, I really enjoyed it! Though I did learn one slang word I wish I hadn’t.
