*crickets******************It appears that EVERYONE got trampled, Bob.(Or, more likely, TypePad won’t let them sign in.)

    The horror…

  • El Mystico

I got shivved at a Wah-Wah, if that helps.

  • El Mystico

Only took three tries for that joke… Not worth it.

  • dc_wilson

I refuse to go shopping on Black Friday because of the crowds. And I refuse to shop at Wally World on general principle.

    OMG… I just found out that Bob’s query refers to a real-life horror… :( QT

  • Eruleptanero

I’ve heard from several people that a person was taken to the hospital from Walmart because she tried to cut in a line and was beaten, but it wasn’t me or anyone I know.

    Anyone still on?

I’ve commented here in the past on the bigotry I grew up with in NC. I’m just back from visiting family and had to share this before heading to bed: My father – who has at least tried to speak less like the racist he is when I’m around – shared with me that he voted for the first time this year in a very long time. Why? He couldn’t stand the thought of that bastard (at least he didn’t use the N-word this time) being president. It nearly killed him that I donated to Obama’s campaign, talked to neighbors, and my wife went canvassing. Oh yeah, and Obama still won NC – partly because my step-mother voted for him :P

Wow, brutlyhonest. How’d you take that? How’s he doing now that Obama is the president-elect?QT

  • dc_wilson

Yeah, QT, the death in Long Island was horrible. I can’t believe that saving an extra 10% is worth that kind of carnage.

Half the problems of mankind could be solved with a liberal application of good manners and the golden rule. The remaining problems would be solved by the universal use of reliable birth control.

  • dontpanic23

Bob, if you had a “quote of the day” segment, I’d nominate Andhakari’s comment above. That sums up so many things in this country.3 logins so far. Fuck Typepad.

  • Teaflax

The Golden Rule? You’ve got to be joking. The Golden Rule makes it perfectly valid to oppose gay marriage as long as you don’t want to marry a same-sex partner yourself. No, the Golden Rule – Treat others as you yourself would want to be treated – needs a vital addition; …if you were like them.

I feel terrible. I actually robo-posted this thread 24 hours earlier, which means my flippant “trampled” remarks was a very unfortunate prediction. My sincere apologies.

  • bibimimi

Don’t feel bad for being right, Bob. WalMart incites riots and refuses to provide adequate security. It’s amazing that there was only ONE [reported] incident.

  • McWolcott

I haven’t stepped foot in a Wal-Mart since watching “Wal-Mart, The High Cost of Low Price”.I found tons of great online deals, no joining the masses for me this year.

Anyone who goes to a store after Thanksgiving and before Christ Mass is an idiot.

  • brutlyhonest

My apologies for not commenting on the walmart trampling last night. I was very tired from the road and didn’t realize what had happened. My cynicism regarding americans’ values is sometimes founded, even if they do surprise me sometimes and do the right thing – like elect Obama.

QT, my Dad and I don’t have a great relationship. I left for the Navy as soon as I could after high school and rarely visit – my wife starts to feel guilty about it and occasionally talks me into going. His change in wording choices was prompted by me leaving once, after warning him to cut the crap, and not visiting or calling for a couple of years. Suffice it to say I told him he’s an ass and I won’t be back anytime soon.
