The Bush Doctrine

A conversation between Putin and Sarkozy:

With Russian tanks only 30 miles from Tbilisi on August 12, Mr Sarkozy told Mr Putin that the world would not accept the overthrow of Georgia, Mr Levitte said.

“I am going to hang Saakashvili by the balls,” Mr Putin replied.

Mr Sarkozy responded: “Hang him?”

“Why not? The Americans hanged Saddam Hussein,” said Mr Putin.

Mr Sarkozy replied, using the familiar “tu”: “Yes but do you want to end up like (President) Bush?”

Mr Putin was briefly lost for words, then said: “Ah, you have scored a point there.”

Maybe there’s an aspect to the Bush Doctrine that’s self-correcting.

    Hey QT! When they came out flat in the second half, I thought they were going to blow it, and they almost did! Lucky thing they won the OT coin toss or I might be crying in my cereal this morning… if I ate cereal.Didn’t know you were a Jets fan! Well.. how would I know? But since I saw the Golden Gate Bridge on your banner, I assumed you were form the west coast.

    No – I’m a Brooklyn girl, born and raised, but sadly transplanted to north of the city.The bridge came with the downloaded WordPress theme – which I obtained more for the water than anything. My main (and sadly neglected site) is called WindonWater.net) with an idea of creating tiny but lasting ripples against the tide of negativity in our collective discourse (and hence, our collective conscience). You can click over there to see the theme – I just set it back to the specially created Wind on Water theme so you’d see that that’s… um…. the theme… LOL!
