Bush’s First Energy Secretary

By way of a flashback, here’s a fun fact about President Bush’s first Energy Secretary, Spencer Abraham:

As a Republican senator from Michigan, Abraham once called for dismantling the Energy Department.

I think that reflects the entire Bush Republican approach, doesn’t it? John Bolton wanted to dismantle the UN, and yet he became President Bush’s UN ambassador.

Good Lord… We’ll finally have a officials who don’t want to destroy their own posts.

Can people stop complaining about Obama’s appointments already? Bush didn’t merely appoint foxes to henhouses, he appointed the Big Bad Wolves to Construction Foreman—these guys didn’t just want to line their pockets, their missions in life were to destroy the agencies they were appointed to.Obama is tapping cutting-edge experts and progressives where he can, and powerful, effective people who can advance his agenda where he has to.Do I need to break this out again?

When I read about Dr. Steven Chu, I burst into song! “Sons of California,” followed by “Sturdy Golden Bears.” Hail hail Dr. Chu, the University of California, and the new Village Smart People!

@ Mrs. Tarquin Biscuitbarrel- May I just say that this is the first time I’ve ever appeared on television?I really have to ask, even if someone says that they want to dismantle this or that thing… does anyone really think that, even if they could, they would once they have a job there? Cos then they’d be out of a job. Or maybe chances are that they’d just do a really, really shitty job. So they choice is between someone who at least respects the job they’re doing, or not. Well thought out, Republicans!

As a Michigander, I was mortified at the choice of Spence Abraham for SecEn. He was an embarrassment in Michigan and an embarrassment TO Michigan at the national level.

They may not have destroyed their own posts, but they certainly fouled their own nests.
