Doof Quote of the Day

“The biggest mistake made was that I could have called more shots on this: the opportunities that were not seized to speak to more Americans via media. I was not allowed to do very many interviews, and the interviews that I did were not necessarily those I would have chosen. [...] But if I would have been in charge, I would have wanted to speak to more reporters because that’s how you get your message out to the electorate.” – Sarah Palin

Well, she doesn’t make any sense. However, after reading that quote several times, I will say that the individual words making up the sentences appear to be in less of a random order than usual for her.Improvement! Those English-as-a-second-language lessons have paid off……….

I just finished reading this myself and all I can say is….. I blame John McCain for unleashing this miscreant of a person on an unsuspecting world…John…. it’s time to put the stake back in her heart and bury her again….

As an Alaskan, I wish she would just shut the fuck up. I’m embarrassed enough.

Yes, McCain shoulders a terrible, unforgivable burden of responsibility for creating this Frankenstein. I know the prevailing wisdom is to let her prattle on and on and the Democrat’s will look all the better.I don’t know if that’s how it will really pay out. I read it in comments, I hear it in the media, people say it at work, this woman is the face of the new Republican party. She will be groomed, polished, programmed and scripted, just as they did with Bush. She looked like an idiot this time around. She won’t next time. Count on it.

She really is the gift that keeps on giving.I’ve noticed this about her: Pauses terrify the shit out of her.It may be Pageant training, and I don’t say that to be snide; I’ve noticed it is also what (dialed to 11 in this case) tripped up Miss LikeSuchTheIraq. In her case, the lack of content was so insane as to be evident to anyone at all, so it was funny, but the common factor was the guiding belief that if only she JUST FILLED THE TIME WITH WORDS and didn’t pause or have dead-space, it might somehow make the grade enough on style-points.I have to imagine that this sort of thing is drilled into potential Miss State-Name-Heres; like the test-taking strategies they teach to up your SATs if you don’t know the answer.I think Jon Stewart actually, even though in jest, summed up the Palins best: They’re a family of grifters. The per-diems, the clothes, the influence-micromanaging, the pay raise business that, if she was not a national figure, would have been a page 27 of the Anchorage news bit of wonkery…She just made the mistake of biting when something beyond her grifting-skill level came up. She successfully managed to parlay herself into a pretty sweet gig, crowbar-ing her way improbably from beauty queen to local news to small office to the outskirts of the big leagues; the governorship of Alaska is like, in the MONOPOLY of politics, building a hotel on one of the light-blue properties. An accomplishment, to be sure, but not in the same league as a 2 houses on the yellows.I gotta say, I almost admire her pluck. It is like, using only a very limited toolset and opportunity, she managed to get the absolute most out of what was presented to her.Her fatal flaw remains over-reach.But along the way, it is kind of hilarious.

All I can say is thank you Bob. Thank you for writing this. If I had to listen to this eel shriek one more time I would of ended my life. Thank you Mr. Cesca for allowing me to live one more day.

Damn! they must have cut her off just before she said, “I never make sense to anyone”!That’s the future of the Repugnant party.

  • trustno1

I dunno, Lame Duck, I am partial to believing that the Republican party likes to keep the Fundies riled up to GOTV for the election, but the corporate branch holds the power. I don’t think the corporate branch will let a Fundie idol get too far up the staircase. Do you think Mitt and Co. will just roll over? I don’t.

I have to admit that cracked me up when I saw it. Apparently providing Tina Fey more ammunition is the Sarah Palin strategy? Good to see what she took away from all this is that she rely less on McCain’s political operatives that “weren’t her people”- and more, one assumes, on her own people. So, more yes-bumpkins from the great white north and more talkin’ and chattin’ with the American people? I hope Matt Lauer cleans the moose chili off his sweater in time for round two of that scintillating interview.

Oops, double post… Damn! This makes three. I hope I don’t accidentally apologize again, cos 4 posts… they’d cut me down off the interweb, and rightly so.

Actually, I think Obama would have won by an even bigger margin than he did if they would have followed her advice.YEEEOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!

I agree with Kagro X at the Daily Kos, John McCain should never live this down:http://girldujour.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/john-mccain-should-never-live-this-down/

So do more interviews. Now. Please. Also. They bring me such joy. You don’t have any handlers or talking points anymore. Let’s see the REAL you. Also.

  • Tracy Adams

Obviously, God didn’t want her to be in charge of her interviews, nor did He want her to become Vice President. And based on Gov. Palin’s mangled English, the only shots she’s been taking are of the Tequila variety.

The most beautiful, perfect, awesome and amazing thing about Sarah Palin is that she honestly believes she is capable. The depth and breadth of her ineptitude, incompetence, inanity, ignorance and inability has been washed away by the appearance of success. She got elected Mayor of Bumblefuck, thus she has executive experience. She got appointed to the oil and gas regulatory board, thus she is an expert on energy policy. She got picked to run for VP, thus she is qualified to be president. For all the amazing things humans have done – from Prometheus to Einstein – it’s still a pretty good world in which to be a grasping, scheming cheerleader with a decent rack.Imagine the debates when they run this blithering, vacuous, fundamentalist hillbilly moose burger…Imagine. My schadenfreude – it trembles and grins.
