Doof Quote of the Day

It’s only 9:30 a.m. eastern time and we already have a winner.

“When I heard about the ["Magic Negro"] story I had to figure out what was going on for myself,” said Mark Ellis, the chairman of the Maine Republican Party. “When I found out what this was about I had to ask, ‘boy, what’s the big deal here?’ because there wasn’t any.”

Yep. Good one. And that’s exactly why the Republicans are currently a minor regional party.

They don’t seem to get that the fact that it was a term that existed before isn’t license to have an offensive minstrel-show voice-over guy in blackface-voice… or to gleefully “get away” with saying “NEGRO!” over and over again. They are not just mean. They’re actively stupid. It reminds me of Sal from the Stern show thinking he can use the word “nigger” in jokes because Richard Pryor did. It is that same kind of willful ignorance.

  • cminri

And as long as they continue not to “get it” the Republican Party will continue to implode…(I’ll bring the popcorn!)

  • LameDuckHunting

I’m glad to see the Republicans can still find comfort in aggressive racism.Knock yourselves out………..literally……

This is an even better lame attempt at justifying this rascist crap.Kate Obenshain, vice president of Young America’s Foundation, is a real fricking tool:http://thinkprogress.org/2008/12/29/tamron-hall-magic-negro/

At least the Republican Party has stopped the charade as the moral party. They are finally showing that they are nothing more than hate filled, racist, war mongering corporate whores that do not give a shit about America of it’s people.

  • sd4peace

These people are actively defending a racist joke.

Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto and ditto. I say let them burn with their own stupidity. I’ll bring the marshmellows!

This is why McCain was the RNC candidate. With his 1980s world view, he represented what so many Republicans were hoping for – a return to the past. The fact that there’s a large faction of the party that thinks this is fine shows how out of touch they really are.

Rebranding? Rebuilding? These relics are stuck in the La Brea tarpit of their own making. They’ll sink into irrelevent oblivion.I hope they stick to their racism and fear. What else have they got. Saltsman is just another Chip off the same ole block. Mock they may, but things have changed and this will be realized soon enough. As they kick and struggle in the goo the inevitable sinking will eventually cover their hands, mouths and ability to distribute their form of cheer. We will walk around the pit and look with some measure of pity, yet still be glad the fit are surviving.Thriving is just around the corner.

Maybe Mark Ellis thought that the song used the Spanish word for black. Or maybe he’s just another idiot.

I started to write a song called “Rush the doomed to go to hell for stirring so much hatred fat fuck ignorant rat bastard bigot” but the cadence was off a little.

Fairness Doctrine time!!!. I know it plays into Hannity’s paranoia but the Right has a monopoly on the radio. Millions of people listen to these assholes because their is nothing else on the radio. I for one will break my radio if I hear Womanizer one more time. What the fuck does the FCC do anyway? I remember emimen, marilyn manson and others getting the shit kicked out of them because their lyrics weren’t good for the family. How the fuck is Magic Negro good for the family, GOP party, or the country?

I don’t see any words that can be removed to improve the cadence. I think we’ll have to write new music. It’s a great song title.

I had a similar problem with “Sean the arrogant reich wing prick bastard.”

“Bill the foolish clown” works with the original music, but lacks the descriptive completeness as a title.

  • thespacecowboy

Did Mark Ellis just call me “boy”?(ok, that was totally in the spirit of bad satire and not meant to be derogatory in any way.)

  • brutlyhonest

My only question is was Ellis addressing someone as boy? Hmmm?As for McCain being the candidate, they fully expected to lose the election so it was OK to let McCain finally get the nod. When Obama secured the nomination, they thought they had a chance with racism on their side and gave it more of a go than they otherwise would have.
