The best choice would have been Ted Koppel-if he would have taken it. I find him to be the most objective of all MSM journalists. I still cannot detect that guy’s bias.I expect him to be especially BBQey and go after Obama hard with right wing talking points–armed with “the media is in the tank for Obama” and “NBC is Obama headquarters” nonsense, he will take fake balance to new heights.

I agree–Rachel would have been the best pick-she would have been very fair, but NBC would never have made such a bold choice for fear of the right wing echo chamber.Funny, in today’s landscape of “fear of liberal bias label”, Russert could have never been tapped–

I’m holding out hope that this was leaked by an NBC exec to nuke Stretch before they could officially announce him. With this reaction it’s virtually impossible that they could come out and publicly anoint Gregory. Nope, there’s a battle going on in the NBC exec offices, and Stretch just took a bullet today.Rachel will have MTP before the inauguration. They’ve got no other option…and for christ’s sakes they don’t NEED one!!
