that’s funny. i am always on the colbert search in charleston and do not think i won’t break a body part (mine or others) trying to get a picture of him pointing at me like this!

  • Lee Stranahan

Bob know I believe this since he and I have been talking in email soas not to bother y’all but I think that there’s growing anecdotal evidence that He Who Shall Not Be Named is the one who is being pushed to a better position on The Issue That Shall Not Be Named, not that our President-Elect is getting worse on the issue…

  • Redmond

So, Lee, are you telling me that Voldemoort and Dumbledore (sp?) get gay-married?Because, seriously, I haven’t finished those books yet and a spoiler warning would’ve been nice. Just sayin’.

  • Lee Stranahan

Look, I didn’t want to say anything but turns out Hermione is a trannie. Ron’s a drag king. Go figure.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

Hermoine is a tranny?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! And here I was waiting until she was almost legal!

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>Bob know I believe this since he and I have been talking in email soas not to bother y’all but I think that there’s growing anecdotal evidence that He Who Shall Not Be Named is the one who is being pushed to a better position on The Issue That Shall Not Be Named, not that our President-Elect is getting worse on the issue…Did you watch his latest video blog? You’re miles off.

  • Lee Stranahan

    Carl – don’t be a bigot.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ Alaska

That “gay” guy is wearing a shirt that says, “I’m not a gardener, I just like ho’s”.

  • Redmond

    >>Look, I didn’t want to say anything but turns out Hermione is a trannie. Ron’s a drag king. Go figure.See? This is exactly why I tell people Harry Potter smacks the shit out of Twilight.

  • Stranahan

Travis – I know, I’m off, Melissa Etheridge and her girlfriend are off, Andrew Sullivan is way off, Obama is completely off – I feel like an increasing number of people will be getting off due to Rick Warren. This whole Hope thing is doomed, I tell ya…

  • Lee Stranahan

DAMNDAMNDAMN I said the name DAMNDAMN

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ Alaska

I hope to get off as well, just not due to Rick Warren.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Well if MELISSA ETHERIDGE says so.

  • Lee Stranahan

I know! She’s just gay, liberal, politically active and actually talked to him! WTF does SHE know?

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ Alaska

So, can we set up a blogtalkradio session for you two lovebirds?Lee/Travis

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

She’s a musician, an old time Clintonista, and just plain old.Just because he seems nice doesn’t suddenly make him not a shitheeled bigot. You don’t even know which video blog I was referring to upthread do you?

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>So, can we set up a blogtalkradio session for you two lovebirds?Lee/TravisPosted by: Alaska at December 23, 2008 03:45 PMFrankly Bob said all of what I would say, and Lee just squinted and blew it off. I can’t imagine why he’d act any differently towards me.Also I’m not Very Serious.

  • Lee Stranahan

I’m at work and haven’t looked yet, Travis. And the squinting is due to my vision problems. Didn’t know it showed up on the radio. Day-um.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Furthermore, this pwning has already occurred, to a degree:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-rogers/victory-you-betcha_b_153116.htmlWhile I think Rogers could have been a little less conciliatory in tone towards bigots, he still drops some major truth bombs here.

  • Lee Stranahan

I wrote days ago that this is a chance to form cogent arguments against Pastor Who-zeee-whats political positions. The victory goes to Obama for making the choice and then anyone who engaged into in a respectful discussion. It’s not a big win for Oh Noes and The Sky Is Falling.I don’t put Mr. Cesca into that category..he and I have been able to disagree adamantly without being disagreeable a bit and he’s not saying (as a lot of commenters on sites like HuffPost or FireDogLake are) that Obama is the same as Dobson, or that Obama is ‘an oppressor’, or that the PE has lost their support forever.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>The victory goes to Obama for making the choiceNo, no it doesn’t. Simply saying it is doesn’t make it so.I don’t know what it is about you that drives your desperate desire to embrace the Third Way outlook on everything, but it clearly has colored your view of events on the ground.

  • Lee Stranahan

I voted for Barack Obama because I believe that divisive political climate has dragged the country down. Obama will be sworn in on Lincoln’s Bible and extending that symbolism, I think that the Red / Blue thing has been the civil war of the era since the 1960s. The divide has worked out very well for the Republicans and giant corporations – it’s created phony wedge issues that got people to vote against their best interests time and time again. So, I understand you think my view is colored – but I believe the same thing about you, Travis. I think you’re stuck in the effed up worldview that’s kept America from progress. I know you think you’re a fierce defender of the Left – and you are, really – but you don’t see you’re playing the same game the fierce defenders of the Right are…and neither of you see that the joke is on both of you.I don’t expect this to convince of anything, of course. You’re so invested in the dominant paradigm right now that seeing outside of it is very difficult. OR – I’m a complete lunatic who is crazy to believe the Obama change thing. Right now, it’s too early to tell, probably…

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>playing the same gameBecause minor quibbles like a woman’s control over her body, civil rights, equal pay, freedom from religion, and regressive taxation are just a game.Do you think about the things you say before you say them? Do you even know where you’re posting this insanity? If it’s all game, I guess we’re all just wasting our time discussing the issues.BRB making a post ripping that scoundrel Bush for being an ineffective speaker and a jerk. Because THAT is why the past 8 years have been so fucking dreadful.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

How does this taste to you?http://thinkprogress.org/2008/12/23/robertson-on-obama/

  • Lee Stranahan

No, Travis. I obviously don’t think about anything. I clearly don’t know where I’m posting. It’s not even possible that I’m making a valid point – even though it’s a view shared by the President Elect and plenty of other people. You believe you possess the correct answers and so the suggestion of an alternative paradigm seems like ‘insanity’ to you. I know that is really what you think, too. But I think the insanity is engaging in the same political theater that got us to this place and acting like it will work, somehow.

‘I believe the puppet on the right shares my beliefs.”Well, I believe the puppet on the left is more to my liking.’Hey, wait a minute, there’s one guy holding up both puppets! – - Bill Hick

  • Lee Stranahan

    Bill Hicks. Damn eyes.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Oh man Bill Hicks. Now I’m thoroughly exposed. Was there no relevant Mitch Hedberg quote?Nice of you to fail to address any of my substantive points again. Is that an insulin related problem as well?

  • Lee Stranahan

I don’t know how to make it much clearer than I have – your substantive points all involve a broader Red / Blue worldview that I don’t share. So even on points where we agree on the goals – which is almost every point, as far as I can tell – you think I’m crazy (literally, it seems) because my approach isn’t within that paradigm.I don’t know how to address them because we aren’t see the same underlying reality. I just hope that at some point your eyes open to wider nature of reality that isn’t reflected in your narrower view of things.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>Because minor quibbles like a woman’s control over her body, civil rights, equal pay, freedom from religion, and regressive taxation are just a game. How are these things a game, again?

  • Lee Stranahan

I never said they were a game. That was a word you used, not me.You read what I wrote and translated it as ‘he says the real issues are a game!!!’ because the idea of alternative to the Red Blue thing isn’t something you’ve wrapped your brain around yet. It’s Plato allegory of the cave. It’s Flatland. You’re working in two dimensions. I’m not.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

You said that focusing on the issues rather than embracing a wishy-washy “compromise” on every issue was some manner of game. The alternative to the Red Blue thing is pushing the Blue ideas harder. Anything less is, in fact, capitulation. Bob’s been over this.

  • Lee Stranahan

to clarify – I never said those issues were ‘a game’ – it’s the overall approach that is.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

You’re right, waiting around for bigots and gilded robber barons to change their minds makes a lot more sense.

  • Lee Stranahan

Once again, Travis – you view this as ‘focus on the issues’ as opposed to ‘wishy washy compromise’.Conservative who are still in your mindset (and there’s a lot of ‘em) believe that the alternative to the Red Blue thing is pushing their ideas harder and that anything less is capitulation to left. You are two sides of the same coin, locked in a pointless and self destructive symbiotic relationship. It’s the “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” episode of Star Trek. The opposite of hate isn’t different hate. You should ask Bob whether he agrees with you before assuming he does. I don’t believe you’re making the same point he was.

  • Tracy Adams

Considering the media’s attempt to connect Obama and his staff to Blagojevich –on the flimsiest of accusations– they’ll have no problem declaring Warren to now be officially tainted with gayness.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

Travis D, if you have all the answers to what ails this country, why aren’t you on some important American project instead of posting on some stupid internet blog (relatively speaking of course)? You got the worst case of “Arm Chair Quarterbacking” I’ve ever seen. You have no real ideas beyond trashing people who don’t think like you, and you seem jealous that Lee’s opinions has more of an outreach than yours.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>Conservative who are still in your mindset (and there’s a lot of ‘em) believe that the alternative to the Red Blue thing is pushing their ideas harder and that anything less is capitulation to left. The difference is, their ideas have been proven harmful and wrong. Their core belief is that the nation was better off in the 1950s (of course they ignore the facts regarding things like the top marginal tax rate etc etc). Furthermore, they believe that things like the public school system is an abomination and that any and all governmental action that isn’t militaristic empire building is folly. There’s no room to budge on any of those ideas. There’s no compromise to be found with people who want to abolish public works and leave the American people to the wolves. To pretend otherwise is outright pollyanna.Oh, and lest I be accused of ignoring others:>You’ve got to pay the Troll Toll>Posted by: LTMidknite at December 23, 2008 05:43 PMSorry bro, at least Stranahan has managed to keep it above personal attacks (today). Maybe tomorrow we can discuss why I have any right to discuss my beliefs in public.

  • Lee Stranahan

I’ve never tried to take away anyone’s speech rights and if I’ve ever started the personal attacks – as opposed to responding to repeated ones – please feel free to point them out and I’ll apologize. And you’re just stating the Blue side of the Blue Red paradigm, again. You’re stating it adamantly but that’s the problem, really. Our problems have outgrown our politics; meditate on that.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

    >>>The difference is, their ideas have been proven harmful and wrong. And given the chance, extreme liberalism would prove just as harmful and wrong. For the simple fact that ideology in its extreme form bars free thinking and forces you to see the world in absolutes.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>I’ve never tried to take away anyone’s speech rights and if I’ve ever started the personal attacks – as opposed to responding to repeated ones – please feel free to point them out and I’ll apologize.I wasn’t referring to you, check again.>>Our problems have outgrown our politics; meditate on that.Only in the sense that corporate interests (DLC, Third Way) have hijacked the Democratic Party to the point where consistent pressure from the left is necessary to gain even an inch.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>And given the chance, extreme liberalism would prove just as harmful and wrong.Yeah social medicine sure is killing all those european babies oh wait. Also you are a Texan, much is explained.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

    >>> Also you are a Texan, much is explained.Care to elaborate on such a statement, because I would hate to think you meant that as an insult.

  • DrMindcrime

C’mon this is a person that recently used “she’s a musician” as a disqualifier for having an opinion. Obviously no valid points have ever come from Texans or musicians. And don’t get me started on musicians from Texas. :)

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

My point was that she lacked the credibility to sway my opinion, not that she lacked the right to express her views.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

And BTW:>>>>She’s a musician, an old time Clintonista, and just plain old.Why don’t you just call Melissa Etheridge (and gays who think like her) a “house faggot”, or whatever the gay equivalent of Uncle Tom or Oreo, and be done with it?And I guess her being a musician makes her less smart in your eyes, Travis.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Well for starters I wouldn’t use that term. However, someone who uses a sentence like this-”Yes you’re here, yes you’re queer, but we should get used to it because……?”I’m not so sure about.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

    >>>>My point was that she lacked the credibility to sway my opinion, not that she lacked the right to express her views.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

She’s had David Crosby’s baby- HAVE YOU???Stranahan at least seems to have a point other than “lol I troll u”.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

And Travis, did you even read my blog post or just that one sentence.

  • DrMindcrime

    >>>>”My point was that she lacked the credibility to sway my opinion”My point is that you seem ready to dismiss the views of anyone who disagrees with you with you fairly glibly. This is something that I’ve seen be extremely destructive on the right: “anyone who doesn’t support Sarah Palin isn’t a “real” conservive.” and I would hate to see this type of destructive groupthink take root on the left.So I ask you…honestly:Who exactly would have the credibility to sway your opinion? You seem fairly entrenched.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    >>Who exactly would have the credibility to sway your opinion? You seem fairly entrenched. On Warren? It would take Warren himself apologizing in public for backing Prop 8. The end.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

    >>> Also you are a Texan, much is explained. You still haven’t elaborated on this statement. Someone seem to have prejudices they need to sort out within themselves.>>> Stranahan at least seems to have a point other than “lol I troll u”.Just giving you a dose of your own medicine. Taste nasty doesn’t it?

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Ah yes, the classic “no u” defense. Seems to me there’s a lot of projection in your quips, Senor Zero Comments.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

And oh, Travis, so I don’t come across as a conplete jerk in your eyes.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ReXnutSUF4An early holiday present from me to you.

  • DrMindcrime

    >>>On Warren? It would take Warren himself apologizing in public for backing Prop 8. The end.And demonizing him is the best strategy to achieve this? To the point that anyone who disagrees with this strategy is part of the problem?

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

Ah yes a defense of his shitty welfare policy. Well played…?

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

    >>>Seems to me there’s a lot of projection in your quips, Senor Zero Comments.I don’t make blog post so that I can get “praise” from people who agree with me. I blog because I have something to say and I do so. If, by some chance fluke, people comment, all the better.

  • http://themidnightsolution.blogspot.com LTMidknite

“If you’re an ideologue, your mind is already made up. You have all the answers. Denial is an essential part of your political being. When an inconvenient fact pops up, you have to be in denial. It has to be a less significant fact.”That’s you, Travis, 100%Your mind is already made up that Warren is the devil incarnate. And when the inconvenient fact that gay activist Melissa Etheridge talked to Warren and believes otherwise, you make it a less significant fact by making statements that “she’s a musician”, “she’s old”.You are no better than the mindless kids that post at freerepublic or national review or michelle malkin.

Since Travis hasn’t provided a rebuttal, LTMidknite has obviously emerged victorious.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

    You’d think so, but no.

Still no rebuttal.Still no elaboration on your “Texan” comment.Truth hurts, doesn’t it?

Yanno one of the reasons i go to places like Out Of The Closet in Weho so i don’t have to run into OC, right wing, fundie Christin, wingnuts.Dont they know they need to stay behind the Orange curtain? Next they will be in my dive bars on the east-side, ruining the ambiance there too
