Nobody Anticipated the Breach

The U.S. Geological Survey:

In one of the report’s most worrisome findings, the agency estimates that in light of recent ice sheet melting, global sea levels could rise as much as 4 feet by 2100. The intergovernment panel had projected a rise of no more than 1.5 feet by that time, but satellite data over the last two years show the world’s major ice sheets are melting much more rapidly than previously thought.

So a minimum level constituting massive death and destruction has been revised upward. Kids being born today will have children whose lives are going to be almost entirely consumed with art of sandbag stacking.

Better to just move as expending all the massive amounts of resources that we don’t have is equivalent to effectively put a finger in the hole of the dam.I personally know some of those scientists up at NCAR. They’re a conservative lot. I always get the sense that they’re really into covering the spread. That 4 feet by 2100 could very easily be 4 feet by 2012 as snow and ice data shows a history of practically one season changes.The best we can hope and pray for though is a cataclysmic eruption – basically the largest ever by several times over to bring the world to a standstill and cool us off. We would be forced to stop driving cars because we’d be in the smog all the time where the sun can’t shine on it.
