So the lame duck GOP Senate scuttled the auto bailout deal because it wouldn't forced auto workers living in Michigan to make the same amount of money as those living in Alabama. Never mind that the cost of living in Michigan is higher. Never mind that such a move would actually hurt workers in the southern states supposedly helped by this by removing the price advantage there.
No, what's weird to me is that I don't see that the auto companies wanted this. Did I miss it? Did the GOP Senate really just do this - as Josh Marshall suggests - out of spite? Pure spite?
