Secretary of Energy Steven Chu

This is a huge, inspired choice. A very progressive Nobel laureate physicist heading up the Department of Energy. Someone with bold, smart ideas for transforming America into a green energy nation. Just incredible.

What a novel idea, putting a scientist in charge of The Department of Energy. Angela Merkel will love him.

Smart people running the country – I’m practically giddy with joy!

This IS most distressing!Giving a man who’s actually A SCIENTIST the job of running a cabinet department that does… science and stuff? This is NOT the Amurikin Way!Obama needs to find someone more qualified – like a guy who judges Arabian horses or some kinda shit like that.

    What’s science?

  • scribblechic

Scientist? Do you mean Satanist? Seriously, its been a while, help me out here.

Are you sure we shouldn’t be wringing our hands over this somehow? Doesn’t this in some way represent “more of the same”? Isn’t putting another male in the position simply an extension of the Clinton administration? I really think we should all be more worried about this. Couldn’t you DO something, Bob? Write a Huffington Post piece or something?

God , I love this President.

Late night talk show monologues are going to be pretty lame under this administration. And don’t you feel for all the stand up comics that will be in the unemployment line? There are going to have to be a lot of governors and senators step up to the plate to help this sector.

Golly gee… I thought Sarah McPalin knew more about energy than anybody else in the free world…!?

What a refreshing change of pace! A scientist in charge of DOE? But I though we weren’t supposed to care anything about science, knowledge, and empirical evidence. Just ideology. This all Carl Sagan’s fault somehow, isn’t it? You know, popularizing science and all…Sheesh.Good choice PE Obama!

Without a doubt a very smart man.I only hope his brilliant scientific mind is up to the task of overseeing a huge government agency…a specialized skill set of its own.

i have to agree with sammy1 (12.11.08 11:17am).i am thrilled that a scientist is going to be appointed to a scientific department.however, just because he may be a great scientist does not mean he will be a great administrator. that requires a different mindset, different skills, and above all, he must inspire bureaucrats more than scientists.
