While I’m At It…

Over the weekend, I saw multiple commercials for GM’s Hummer on television. Yep. The failing automaker is spending money on advertising the most ridiculous vehicle to hit the market since this thing.

And here in the Hartford area, an established GMC dealer with 2 locations has been forced to close:A notice on 8½-by-11 photocopier paper posted at entrances to Tony March Buick-Pontiac-GMC and at Saturn of Hartford, next door, bluntly stated the circumstances: “Sorry, we are closed.”An accompanying letter, dated Dec. 19 and signed by March, said the businesses had “closed their doors” as of that day, and referred customers to a General Motors website for further assistance.http://www.courant.com/business/hc-march1223.artdec23,0,6362716.storyI'm thinking this will not be a unique story. But buy those Hummers! Yeah! Get what? 8 miles to a gallon? My little Saturn gets over 30…

I thought I read somewhere that they weren’t going to be selling Hummers in the States anymore – just in Russia where the oil oligarchs are still overcompensating. Perhaps they are just trying to get rid of current inventory.>>This warrants something bigger than a shoe.Perhaps one of Ahnuld’s freeweights?

Didn’t GM outspend Toyota $3000 to $1000 in ads per unit sold? But they flush the healthcare issue down everyone throats.

So, I guess this will not be the site to discuss one of my passions – the Dakar Rally – where Robby Gordan and Team Dakar USA will be racing across Argentina and Chile in custom built Hummer H3 race trucks.I would ask – what do you propose GM do with those Hummers that are built? Grind them up and recycle them? There are people who will buy them, and it will help GM somewhat to get them off of the inventory. They need to advertise to do that.
