White House Christmas Trees

In case you’re looking for presidential inspiration for your Christmas tree this year, here are some actual White House trees (and snarky remarks)…

Here’s LBJ’s 1966 tree — which he clearly dug out of the ground himself,Griswold style.

Nixon’s 1969 tree, ironically enough, is leaning to the left. (Also… EvenNixon’s tree was crooked. Get it? Hoo-hoo.)

I know! Truman’s 1947 tree sucks, right?

Carter’s tree from 1977 was so awesome that it required a festiveyet intimidating garland barracade surrounding it.

The 1986 Reagan tree. I’ve got a fever, and the only cure is more randomshit on the 1986 Reagan tree.

The ornaments on Bush’s 1991 tree are needlepoint figurines from Noah’sArk because nothing says Happy Christmas! like a worldwide genocideby drowning… portrayed in needlepoint.

Never mind Ford’s 1974 tree, what’s up with the pimpin’ jacket?

To this day, whenever I see a picture of Ol’ 41 and “Beautiful Mind” Babs, all I can think of is “Harold and Maude.”

That pimpin’ jacket is a classic. Combined with her hot dress it says “we’re humping up to the Lincoln bedroom as soon as you snap this pic”.
