Your ‘Liberal’ Cable News Network

Just now on MSNBC… Washington bureau chief Mark Whitaker said (paraphrasing), “Obama wants to change the tone in Washington? He couldn’t even change the tone in Illinois!”

Yes, Mr. Whitaker, it was entirely up to the junior senator to change the whole political tone of the state of Illinois. Because he somehow had the power to do that.

Sheesh. Gimme something to break.

I’m sick of this whole stupid thing. They’re really, really stretching to make something of it.

Obama, as the junior senator from Illinois, couldn’t even change the tone in Pakistan and India! Why not? After all, he has a Muslim name and all that!

Whitaker seems to forget that once Obama left the state senate for the Washington, he put pressure on the Illinois State Senate to pass his ethics legislation and override Blagojevich’s veto that eventually brought down the Governor. So, yeah, Whitaker, actually he did change the tone in Illinois. Dipshit.

As a citizen of IL, born and bred in Chicago, I must say that hindsight is 20/20 and I don’t think anyone at the time Blago was elected governor anticipated something of this nature. I supported Blago for re-election, as did many citizens in IL and many public officials, such as Obama, because there were issues that many agreed with him on. Even as he was under investigation, I’m a firm believer that all allegations should be taken seriously, but that at the end of the day a person is innocent until prove otherwise. He was promising, but the fact of the matter is the power got to his head. Every public official in Chicago and IL for that matter are not corrupt. Some have managed to stay out of corruption such as Obama and Durbin, others have not – Gov. Ryan and now Gov. Blago. It seems to me that the MSM is tryin’ to implicate that Obama and his team did something wrong or unethical. I’ve read the indictment a number of times and by all accounts the Obama team were not listening and would not stoop to his level…no one in the MSM commends Obama and the team for that, sure they mention but they make it seem like its nothing of importance. To be honest if somebody in the Obama team or even Obama himself did talk about recommendations for the Senate seat and refused to be involved in any pay for play, then I’m glad it happened, because it was the nail in the coffin that finally put an end to Blago governorship and exposed him for what he really is.To the Rethugs who are calling for Obama to come out about what he knows, his relationship with Blago, etc., where were you when:In 2000 all major networks called the election for Gore, except for right-wing Fox News, where Bush’s first cousin was in charge of that decision to call it in a state in which Bush’s brother was governor and his campaign manager was in charge of the vote counting in FL?The Bush family has ties to the bin Laden family, even as Osama bin Laden was a wanted terrorist?Haliburton, the same company VP Cheney was CEO of and recieved millions as going away present, got no-bid contracts in Iraq?I could go on for days. And not one of them and not even the MSM, except for a select few, said a damn thing.

I am getting so tired of the “very serious media” and their narratives. After the press conference today on MSNBC, Gregory and his guests said NOTHING about the HSS announcement or anything of depth. It was all about what Obama needs to do concerning the scandal. Substance rides backseat to controversy every time and I’m slightly offended by it.

The media is sooooooooooooo in the tank for Obama.

Oh and does anyone else get the feeling that Rahm did actually tip the prosecutors or had some involvement in how the gov. got caught, no matter how many times he denies it? I say this because I feel that Rahm is probably the most likely person Blago. talked to if there was some contact, because Rahm held the seat he previously held, so I would assume that those two had a better relationship then say Obama and Blago (in that case, lack-thereof) and the gov. felt that he could talk to Rahm to see what he could get and Rahm wasn’t having it.

Rahm operates like that, seems to me. The fact that the governor goes down, and Rahm’s name gets floated is just a warning to everyone else who wants to eff with Rahm (and by extension, the President-Elect). The denial only means that the point has already been made.QT

Wait. I heard today that Blago’s on wiretap transcript saying (of Obama), “The mother-effer refuses to help me out.” Seriously.I think that’s all that really needs to be said about Obama’s “involvement.”

  • PackyJ

JMY – Even if it’s NOT true, I like the idea that perhaps Blago tried to strong-arm Rahm Emanuel.Even I know that would be a Very Bad Idea.

jen – I think some in the media feel that even if Obama talked to the gov. and refused to help him or someone in the Transition team had contact with the gov. and refused to accept his corrupt proposal, that they should have reported it. I guess that’s fair, but in reality I don’t think it would have made a difference if someone tipped the prosecutors off considering the fact that he was already under federal investigation and had been bugged for many months now. It wasn’t like he was trying to sell the Senate seat and then prosecutors decided it was time. No that had been going on for some time. This was just icing on the cake and sped up the process to indict him.PackyJ – even if what I assume isn’t true, the fact that they refused to fall into his corrupt trap is enough for me (not the MSM media though). And I hate to speculate and assume, but I just get the feeling that Rahm played a significant enough role to catch Blago in the act.

The reason they’re pushing so hard on this is because they tried the birth cetificate thing and that came back and bit them on the ass.
