Caroline Kennedy And Talking

Even though she says “you know” a lot — I mean, A LOT — doesn’t mean she’s an idiot or unqualified to be a senator.

There might be other reasons why she shouldn’t be a senator, but her verbal tics shouldn’t have anything to do with it. There aren’t any other signs that Caroline Kennedy is somehow a doof — not unlike President Bush or Sarah Palin who have each proved on numerous occasions that, in addition to their ridiculous speaking styles, they’re both dumb stupids. Kennedy passed the Bar, co-authored two books, edited numerous others and, to date, hasn’t used the phrases “position flexible,” “you betcha” or “peeance freeance” in public.

Additionally, there are a crap load of royally doofish senators who have served multiple terms. And yet “you know” is disqualifying her? Former-Senator Ted Stevens thought the internet was a series of tubes, while at the same time serving as the chairman of the committee tasked with regulating the internet. Hell, Dan Quayle was a two-term senator.

You know?

There’s her unwillingness to speak with the press that bothers me. Also the whole take-home test thing. Also, is in Bloomberg’s pocket.

It has always occurred to me that sometimes, really brilliant people have a hard time getting the words out as fast as their brain synapses fire.Barack Obama, who is an amazing orator, will often use pauses, such as “you know” when asking questions. But,if you look at when he inserts these words it is always while his great mind is instantaneously formulating a correct and coherent response.I’ll always take the smart guy with all their annoying little verbal tics, over a bellicose overbloated fast talking Carnival barker.

The backlash against Caroline Kennedy has been breathtaking, and, since there seems to be very little actual ammunition to use against her, her detractors are jumping on all sorts of nonsense to disqualify her. Frankly, I hope she gets it. After the extreme damage that has been done to our Constitution over the past eight years, we need more legislators like Kennedy-Schlossberg who specialize in constitutional and, especially, privacy issues.

There are different standards for women. Some undeserving hags walk on water.slashing and burning your own party for your personal gain= you deserve secretary of state; we love you; what “drama?”saying “you know” multiple times= you are obviously a horrible person- why did you even consider running for anything?

The Sarah Palin analogy is silly–Sarah Palin is an uncurious dolt in the George Bush mold. She demonstrated this time after time–she was wholly unqualified to be one heart beat away from the most powerful position in the world. To compare that to the power of a Senator is ridiculous.Positions as Governor, Senator, and Congressmen/women are often people who are straight from the private sector–This is not uncommon. However, I do not support this appointment, and have problems with it in other ways–I do feel an appointment should be from someone who is already serving, and has proven themselves in the public arena. If she really wanted the job, IMO, she should say she would run in 2010 in the special election. So far, I am not impressed with her–and to be fair, her interviews have indeed been unimpressive. So far, I do not feel this is a good choice. I actually think the bar should be higher for appointment.
