Comments

I was tinkering with the spam filters on the comments, but it looks like some of you haven’t been able to post as a result. So I’ve reset the comment filters back to where they were.

I really thought my transvestite comment last night sent me into the penalty box.

I was wondering why Travis’s remarks seemed so tame.

That probably explains why my close anchor tag was pitched into the abyss in my post about Al Franken being certified the winner. That post previewed fine and than was totally hosed when posted.

This leads to the following important note to blog software developers:

All input cleansing, SQL filtering, SPAM filtering, and any other processing of input text from the text box MUST be performed identically for preview and post. If this is not done identically, then the preview function is worthless and should be removed.

As a software developer, I would have thought that this would be obvious. Guess not.

I suspect that the excuse is that they attempt to hide the filtering so as to provide no feedback to nefarious poltroons that attempt to game the system. However, if this filtering is not done identically for preview and post, then the preview function is worthless and should be removed.

For anyone that thinks that worthless is an overstatement, I’ll point out that the preview function is misleading at best, which I consider makes it worthless. If you don’t show me what will happen to my post accurately at preview, then I have to have faith that the filters will not munge my post. I don’t care for faith based posting. YMMV.

Yeh. I’ve been trying to be careful, but I referred to Cheney as “Dick” (as his name as well as what he is) and HuffPo scrubbed me.

I’m afraid I’m a HuffPo reject as well. So, I hope everyone has a wonderful day. This is an awesome blog. Everyone here is so nice.
