ain’t it odd how George H.W. Bush didn’t get blamed for the 1st WTC attacks, which occurred 5 weeks into Clinton’s presidency. Nope – that was on Clinton’s watch & therefore Clinton owned it (and managed to bring those responsible for it to justice without invading an uninvolved 3rd country).

lib4ever:True, there was probably quite a bit of planning done on the 9/11 attacks before Bush took office. Of course, there were still 9 months after that before the attacks took place – months in which the CIA, FBI and the President were all told multiple times of the threat facing the country, and did nothing to stop it.The Hart-Rudman report, FBI agent Kenneth Williams’ July 10 memo, the August 6 PDB, the August 16 arrest of Moussaoui and subsequent memo from another FBI agent explaining that a fully fueled plane would be a very destructive weapon – acting upon any of these warnings (plus more I’m probably forgetting) could have stopped 9/11. Since 9/11 happened even after all of these warnings, the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Bush and his administration – not on Clinton as so many conservatives wish it would.

Well, I addressed the last one, so here goes for the first three.Were they all waiting for Bush to tell them what to do? Probably not, although only they can truly answer that.Do they not know what their job is? I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they knew what their job was – they just didn’t do it.Does it depend on who’s President? I’m gonna go with yes. If Clinton had been in office, given his record of stopping terrorist attacks, I’d place a pretty heavy bet on 9/11 never happening.
