glad to see i wasn’t the only one watching 20/20 last night! ;) i haven’t popped anything out yet but i like the idea of having various options. pain perception is individual and can be altered mentally (says the girl who hasn’t “birthed”)i would like to see conventional methods mix with other options in order to create the best of both. thankfully we now have life saving procedures for the difficulties that could arise while giving birth and the distance and time sensitivity of alternate methods to these procedures are what scares most into convention.now…what about those freaks that carry and treat those creepy reborn baby dolls as if they were real?!?! you know they have at least three or four voices in their head!

My wife has had 3 babies – 1 in the hospital and 2 at home, unassisted…she greatly preferred the homebirths. No dolls, either.

I think I’m too shy to have to produce an orgasm just for a special occasion – and at that when I’m busy trying to do something else. That said – I had my son in a birthing center, and I can attest to the benefits of natural childbirth – even without orgasms. ;) My labor lasted for ever – 35 hours to be precise, but part of that was because it kept stalling whenever I would get into the hot tub. Still – it meant a lot to be able to actually fall asleep in between contractions, and the actual contractions were not so much painful, as much as an irresistible exertion – which can be really uncomfortable because it’s largely involuntary. I suspect women often experience this exertion as pain because of fear – having your body react in ways you’re not telling it to react can be scary.Oddly enough, 35 hours is the legal limit before a birthing center has to transfer you to the hospital for a cesarian. At the 35th hour, the midwife said “it’s now or never. Push!” My son was born 5 minutes later.QT
