Senator Feinstein’s Ego Rage

Feinstein today:

“My position has consistently been that I believe the Agency is best-served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time.”

Feinstein in 2004 regarding Porter Goss:

“I believe the President should have the prerogative to appoint who he wants to be the DCI…”

In fact, Porter Goss publicly admitted that he was totally unqualified to be the DCI.

I couldn’t get a job with CIA today. I am not qualified. I don’t have the language skills. I, you know, my language skills were romance languages and stuff. We’re looking for Arabists today. I don’t have the cultural background probably. And I certainly don’t have the technical skills, uh, as my children remind me every day, “Dad you got to get better on your computer.” Uh, so, the things that you need to have, I don’t have.

Of course this has nothing to do with qualifications. It’s all about ego. As I’ve written before, we seriously need to thin the herd.

    I think I heard on Olbermann last night that Feinstein maybe had her own candidate in mind that she wanted to suggest, like maybe Jane Harman. These people are scary as fuck.It’s going to be a bumpy ride. The Blue Dog Dems are going to cause trouble. Again, the Obama administration will have to fight like hell for everything it wants from a Democratic Congress that gave George Bush anything he wanted.

    About the only shred of respect I have for Republicans comes from the fact that they will toe the party line til kingdom come. (see 2001-07). I have always contended that when Obama or any DEM was named President his biggest challenge would be not from obstructing Republicans but rather his own party. These now EGO filled personalities were nowhere to be found during the Bush years, but now one of their own is in office everyone of them has crawled out of the wood work to impede their Democratic leader.Its like these people actually enjoy making the case for Republican Party over and over again. If these turn coat DEMS manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and allow a Republican resurgence in 2010 I will personally beat them down myself.

    What the CIA needs is a business man (preferably a start-up whiz) as it’s chief. Start-up builders take no shit from anyone, don’t care what you’ve done before, don’t care how it’s been done for thousands of years, and have absolutely no qualms about firing dead weight.
