The Axis of Capitulation

The president-elect is meeting with Speaker Pelosi on Monday to outline a strategy for the stimulus package. And of course there are several groups of doofs who are planning to get all up in it.

First, the nearsighted budget hawks who obviously didn’t study history:

…Republicans and conservative Democrats are raising concerns about the impact on the federal deficit of spending hundreds of billions on an array of projects with little vetting by Congress.

And the weird McConnell-Reid Axis of Capitulation:

Even if the House votes before Obama’s inauguration, passage in the Senate is likely to be more contentious and take longer than in the other chamber. With an ongoing recount in Minnesota’s Senate race and the process for replacing Obama in the chamber still uncertain, Democrats can be assured of holding only 57 seats during January, three votes shy of a veto-proof majority.

That’d be filibuster-proof majority — not veto. But anyway, if the thing is going to be stalled in the Senate, I want the stalling to mean something. Make the Republicans strap on their adult diapers and read recipes without leaning, sitting or bathing their pinkish-hued skin for days on end. No more cloture votes, Senator Reid!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…I have to pee.

Bob,You are asking Harry Reid to grow a pair. Problem is, he’s got to ask Pelosi if it’s okay to have a pair.My prediction is this:Harry Reid will be standing in a lobby somewhere in front of a camera, wringing his hands because those dastardly Republicans won’t compromise. It’s politics as usual. The blame game is the only game in Washington when all of our elected officials are too scared to take the risk of being wrong. Here’s where we all wish there were no political parties, so these bastards would be forced to vote their conscience. Can we hang ‘em yet, Bob?

Reid and Pelosi will show defiance of the White House the moment the Republicans start whining about how the Democrats are rubber stamping everything Obama wants. The whining will start at 12:02:34 p.m. on January 20th, if not before. The Obama administration will have to fight like hell for almost everything it wants. The Republicans will get everything they want with no fight at all, despite their crippling minority status.Pelosi and Reid must go. Soon.

I thought capitulation was the new narrative, and that us DFH-types were merely standing in the way of the Obama/Reid juggernaut of folding to conservatives so as not to appear mean.

PPP,Just point me in the right direction. Perhaps Travis could find some middle ground with us?

Pelosi and Reid should have been tarred and feathered and run out of DC on a waxbasket potatospike over a year ago.Expecting either to get a set is like expecting to be able to herd 200 cats.Be wary of those those waxbasket potatospikes.

Pelosi and Reid belong in the GOP. That’s the party that idolizes government incompetence.

I haven’t been able to figure out why people talk about the “magic number.” Given the Blue Dogs, you can’t expect Democrats to follow a party line. You’re always going to have about a third of the Dems slavishly following the Repugs, usually led by Pelosi.
