When I watch My Pet Goat in real time juxtaposed with the tragedy of that morning, I can’t help but to think how quickly the president shown in this video would’ve been disgraced by the media and impeached by Congress had he been a Tennessee Democrat named Al Gore.

    Secondarily, every time I hear some wingnut gasbag declare how “lucky” we are to have a decider like Bush in charge, I have always wondered how hard it would have been for Al Gore to point at Afghanistan and tell his generals, “I want THAT.”

    At the very least, right wingers would have been burning “My Pet Goat” books along with Gore effigies.Of course, the author of “My Pet Goat” would have gotten a much bigger royalty payment from the increased sales of books to burn would have benefited him.

    It’s a great counter to the Bush Legacy Project. What “tough decision” did he make sitting there? Nothing but that blank stare that screams out “Oh FFS what do I do now?”

    It never really sunk in before that Bush was aware of the first plane before he ever went in to the school. I mean I knew it, but I was more focused on the fact that he was just sat here rather than on the fact that he never should have been there in the first place.

I wasn’t planning on watching this until you mentioned that fact (I still avoid most actual footage … I’m just not quite there yet), but now I can see better how it all synchronized.     i would hope that if al gore had been president, this wouldn’t have occured in the first place.and as far as putting footage together of george bush and tragedy, i’m thing that someone could do the same with Katrina, and bush playing guitar and have cake with mccain.

    One thing is for certain if Gore had won (well, let’s face it, he did win): His transition team wouldn’t all but have scrapped Clinton’s well-oiled anti-terrorist apparatus in favor of Star Wars: Episode II, Maybe It Will Work This Time. Condi made it clear to Clinton’s National Security Apparatus that she was more interested in missile shields and not so much The Terror™; Gore would never have made this mistake, having been briefed in on Bin Laden and his imminent threat daily until January 20, 2001.It’s probably not much of a stretch to say that Gore could absolutely have mitigated our losses on 9/11, if not stopped it entirely.
