    The funny thing is I remember seeing this photo and thought that it’s what Shepard based his work off of, I just never realized it was unknown.Theo, there are plenty of ways to know. There’s no camera info but I don’t know if that means that this was shot on film or not. Mannie or the AP could strip that info from the file.     This is more dynamic and reveals more about Obama than the offical portrait. I love the tilt of Obama’s face and the flag stripes (to the left, of course!)

    It blows my mind that Fairey didn’t have to get the photographer’s permission to use her image and, even more bizarrely, that she didn’t even realize he had used/stolen it until last week…
