Yglesias and Brad DeLong observe that John Boehner and the Republicans chose their position on stimulus first, without lining up expert support or endorsements. Consequently:

…no current or former member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers–Democrat or Republican, living or dead, sane or insane–has signed up for the Republican House caucus’s list of economists opposed to the stimulus package.

This is hilarious and typical. But since when have the Republicans needed credentialed experts to support their positions? They have the cable and the talk radio. See also Terry Schiavo, the climate crisis, WMD, evolution, abstinence, et cetera also.

    But I always make decisions while I still know very little about the topic.Too many known knowns makes the decision much harder. Lots of known unknowns is bad also too. It’s best to decide when all you have is unknown unknowns.Too much information makes life needlessly confusing and makes decision making that much harder.I find that asking “What would Jesus the Baby decide?” is a far easier decision making process.Jesus the Baby never makes the wrong decision.
