$780 Billion?

Here’s the latest. About $150 billion was trimmed from the recovery bill, and Harry Reid is reportedly saying he has a deal to pass it in the Senate. He’s also seems to have asked Senator Snowe to trim more from the tax cut side.

Speaker Pelosi isn’t happy with the spending reductions, but it’ll be very difficult for the Democrats to shoehorn some of the spending back into the bill in the conference committee.

Here’s the thing, if they had to reduce so-called “objectionable” spending (food stamps and school construction — objectionable!) they should’ve replaced it with, well, less objectionable spending — keeping the overall price tag the same or higher, but with more refined content. But instead, it seems like they’ve simply reduced the dollar amount even though we absolutely need more spending.

And therein is what you get when blue dog Democrats and centrist Republicans get their hands on important things: The middle way is no way at all.

    Terrible. Hello hyperinflation!

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

Oh, Chris. You really have no clue, do you. 600,000 jobs lost just this past January – I think those people aren’t worried about the possibility of inflation in the future when they have ZERO income now.Zero cred for the Republican economic way of doing things as the past eight years have shown.

  • ceu

Are they really objecting to food stamps and school construction?Dicks.

  • Chris

This is a trainwreck. The people in Washington have absolutely lost their minds.

  • Chris

“Zero cred for the Republican economic way of doing things as the past eight years have shown”This is a very simple way of thinking/looking at things.

  • Lee B.

“This is a very simple way of thinking/looking at things.”So is calling it a “trainwreck” and saying that everyone’s “lost their minds” who will vote for it.

  • http://nanotyrnns.blogspot.com/ Nanotyrannus

Bob is there any way to target congressmen that will be on the conference? Can we put pressure on them?

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

    >>This is a very simple way of thinking/looking at things.Just like thinking that the entire Congress has lost its collective mind and they should have done nothing according to you? I know that’s an obtuse way of looking at things.

  • ceu

yes, Chris. The minds were lost 10 years ago when they impeached a successful president for a blow job & then installed as president a borderline retarded war-monger with no respect for the Constitution, the various treaties, or the people of this country.Luckily, sanity appears to be rearing its lovely head in much of Congress. :) Perhaps if the GOP Congresscritters actually studied history instead of kowtowing to the ramblings of idiots, they, too, could find the joy of sanity.

  • GIthePotato

If Chris(Far Right Wingnut Limbaugh Fluffer) is upset and I(Far Left Wingnut Maddow Muncher) am upset with this bill, who the fuck is happy with it?

  • Chris

Clinton wasn’t impeached for a blowjob…So you’re for the deregulation that certainly didn’t hurt the economy during Clinton’s years? Or is it just bad when Republicans are in office?

  • ceu

Nano, where can i find who’s on the committee?

  • http://www.nonfatventing.blogspot.com jen

In the words of Beavis and Butthead, “Dumbasses.”

  • Chris

    Bush= HooverObama= FDR….it seems.Yikes..

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

That’s right, Chris. Now you’re getting it.

  • ceu

I’ve lived thru some terrible presidential administrations. The worst were Bush II, Reagan and Bush I – so apparently, yeah, I’m against administrations that fuck over the economy.

  • Chris

Reagan fucked over the economy? Are you kidding me? Yeah..Damn Reagan and Volker for curbing inflation, lowering interest rates, and unemployment!Bush I started the tax raises and military cuts that lowered the deficit, and Clinton continued…It’s sad how we don’t learn from history.

  • http://nanotyrnns.blogspot.com/ Nanotyrannus

Ceu I think we need to find out. I don’t know where to start though – that’s why I asked Bob. Maybe we could get a post with names and numbers and start hammering away at these guys and gals this weekend.

  • GItheScholar

What does this say about your precious Reagan, Bush I and Bush II. Don’t worry it isn’t porn but something much scarier FACTS.

  • Chris

I’m well aware of the fact that the deficit increased under Republican watch. It also lowered during Republican lead Congress of the 1990′s..I’m not a partisan hack. I don’t agree with everything the GOP does.Regardless, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any balanced budgets or lowering the deficit anytime soon..

  • Chris

Ronald Reagan is one of my favorite presidents. Bush I had the potential to be great, Bush II was thrown off by the events of 9/11…I think any president would’ve struggled under those circumstances.

  • GItheScholar

Chris,You will see it when that liberal fascist President Obama cuts our Defense budget down to a $100 billion annually and I lose my job. GODDAMN COMMIES!!!

  • Chris

    Nah….

  • GIthePotato

    >>Bush II was thrown off by the events of 9/11…I think any president would’ve struggled under those circumstances.ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME!!!!!?Maybe if he would have read the GODDAMN intel reports on SEP 10th everything would have been better.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

Bush II was thrown off by the events of 9/11

Seriously? “Thrown off”? Is that what you call incompetence? I can maybe accept deficit spending because of the occupation in Iraq, but Katrina? FEMA? Tax cut and tax cut during a time of war? Cronies in every position of power for which they had no experience? You call that being “thrown off”?

  • Chris

Please..those “intel” reports were vague and short on information.

  • GIthePotato

Chris, YOU READ THE REPORT? WHAT DID IT SAY?

  • Chris

“Bin Laden determined to attack”. Wow, where, when how?If you’re seriously putting all of the blame on Bush for 9/11 then you have trouble thinking rationally.

  • GIthePotato

If you think Reagan saved this country you are an asshole.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

The buck stops here. But you’re right. It must have been Clinton’s fault right? Even though he was blown off when trying to stress the importance of watching bin Laden to the incoming administration. But they already knew bin Laden well since he bin Ladens and the Bushes had been business partners for years, so why bother listening to Clinton?

  • ceu

    >>Yeah..Damn Reagan and Volker for curbing inflation, lowering interest rates, and unemployment!LOL! Oh my god! Seriously, check your history. Reagan and unemployment, specifically:Jan 1981 – 7.5%Dec 1981 – 8.5%July 1982 – 9.8%Dec 1982 – 10.8%Compare that to Clinton’s first two years:Jan 1993 – 7.3%Dec 1994 – 5.5%by Dec 2000, it was at 3.9%so….which admin curbed unemployment??

  • Chris

Do you know what the economy was like during Jimmy Carter? One man cannot destroy or save a country as big as the United States. The president is merely the most important figure, but everybody has a role and responsibility. Reagan and Volker definately set the economy on solid ground and laid the groundwork for prosperity.

  • GIthePotato

Chris,I am not a fucking genius but “Bin Laden determined to Attack” would have directed my attention to “Bin Liden”.Are you going to give a pass to President Obama if something happens and he was given a report saying, “Conservatives are waving pitchforks, wearing their white sheets and seceding from the Union”? I think not.May I recommend Alaska. That way the Baby Jesus can find all of you easier when he comes back.

  • Chris

It clearly was good. There are a variety of factors that are responsbile for that.

  • ceu

I DO know what the economy was like under Carter. It was a hell of a lot better than under Reagan. One reason the economy is the way it is now is St. Ron and his fucked up “trickle down” economic theories.Go read some history, since you obviously don’t have first-hand experience. Read FACTS, not opinions. Find out about things like GDP and the National Debt and unemployment rates. And good luck with your delusions after that.

  • GIthePotato

This one and every other really “straight” man.Dude you need help tonight. Please call a doctor and get a check up. She is a horrible person. I know conservatives only fuck in the missionary position, no talking, a white sheet seperating each other, a bible, a young priest and solely for the purposes of procreation but we “straight” men like to talk to our women and value what they say. If I had to listen to that eel one more time I was going to hang myself with a bootlace.

This is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time! Yeah, Chris, I love beating off to the Palin turkey slaughter video too! And woohoo! She looks soooo hot in those expensive RNC clothes. I often fantasize that I’m fucking Palin in the ass on a wolf skin rug as the moosehead over the fireplace stares down at us, while she screams, “Yes, Carl, You betcha! Bang my ass, also such as, Also! Also! ALSO!” We come together in an explosion that makes the Northern Lights look like a cheap window display and fall into a heap of sweat and musk as our bodies collapse into each other. There we sit while staring across the sea to Russia.

  • Chris

CEU: No, I wasn’t alive for President Carter. But I am able to look at factual data and determine that Carter had a terrible economy during his one term, and Reagan had a steadily improving one during his two terms. It’s one of the wonders of the internets! Readily available facts.

I like some of the things he did, and disagreed with many others. Not everyone one sees the world in silly (R) is horrible! D is great!! or vice versa..ways..

  • ceu

I lived thru it – I was an adult living thru it. Trust me, it was better under Carter. Unfortunately, one of the big projects under Reagan was the demonizing of Jimmy Carter, while fucking over the working classes of this country. Rewriting history, so to speak….and it worked – you are the proof of that.BTW, my kids learned that Vietnam was a “good” war that we could have won if only Congress had continued funding it…. and you learned that St Ron was a great president who did wonderful things for the economy. NEITHER is correct, but fools will believe them.

  • Chris

Please. Noone outside of extremely partisan people would deny Ronald Reagan was a good president. Your own personal situation does not equal the situation of the country as a whole. The data speaks for itself.

  • Chris

Clearly the American people agreed at the time..As Ronald Reagan carried 49 out of 50 states in his reelection bid. If anyone is attempting to rewrite history, it’s you.

  • ceu

no – the data speaks for itself when you’re talking about things like curbing unemployment. The rest of it? You don’t have a fucking clue.I’m done.

  • GIthePotato

Ceu, you are my fucking hero. I have been waiting for someone with real world experience to say that about Carter.I have used the INTERTUBES and found a ton of good things that Carter did for the country.More TUBES, I have learned the Reagan was a disaster. You know that whole selling weapons to Iran and Iraq was a really good thing for US Troops when we didn’t have armor on our vehicles in Iraq. Nothing says irony like US Troops getting blown up by US 155MM artillery rounds. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

  • Chris

“no – the data speaks for itself when you’re talking about things like curbing unemployment. The rest of it? You don’t have a fucking clue.I’m done.”So you enjoyed 13%+ inflation and interest rates around 20% Get real man. This kind of blind party adherence is exactly what’s wrong with America.

  • veralynn

ChrisBottom line is look where the country was in 1976, I was alive btw. Carter inherited an oil embargo, rising inflation and joblessness. The result of the Vietnam Conflict and Watergate combined to bring the economy and public confidence to one of the lowest points in our country’s history. Jimmy Carter may not be everyones cup of tea, but he did one thing I have only seen one other time since I have been alive: he told the American people the truth. And he got flamed for being weak, and he still does. Jimmy Carter was way ahead of his time, we were not ready for him. We didn’t trust the government because the taint of Watergate, and we still don’t.You can look at facts and opinion all day, but you must look at what was going on in the country at that time. I will say I was not a fan of Reagan, but he did do one thing for the people. He made Americans feel better about the future and ourselves. He ruined the economy with his trickle down theories of economics, but you didn’t worry because it was “morning again in America”. As sad as that is, it worked. Reagan made the divide between the haves and have nots in this country larger than any other president in modern times, until the idiot who just left.So please, ask your family what it was like to live through the 70′s and 80′s and get a little context before disparaging President Carter. Take a look at what the other former Presidents do with their time after they leave office and honestly tell me you don’t have some respect for Mr. Carter. He inherited a bad economy and a discouraged nation, he told us the truth, those are the facts.

  • Chris

VeryLynn..I don’t have anything against Carter personally, I just don’t think he was a good president. For the record I don’t think Nixon or Ford were good presidents either..at least domestically.

  • jane

So’s ya like Nixon’s foreign policy! Do tell. And please use my name some more.

  • Chris

Reagan, Bush I, and Clinton are the only presidents from the past 50 years that I would rate as “good” overall. Nixon, Ford, LBJ, Bush II, Carter= Mehhh

  • seejane

ceu and veralynn, You gotta be kidding about Carter. He lied about the gas shortage which lead to gas lines and the double nickel speed limits. Not to mention his handling of the situation in Iran. He did little to encourage the nation. Thus, a one term president.

  • Alan4s

Interseting tidbit there Chris. We now find out: No, I wasn’t alive for President Carter. In previous posts you have blathered on about how you lost your job in the dot com bust, and how the wonderful tax cuts enabled you to finally find a job again after 15 months. So you were employed what, maybe a month or two out of college when you lost your job? Your entire adult life experience has been lived under President Bush?It makes much more sense now, and I’m so sorry for your misfortune. Take it from those of us with a few more years experience – you’ll learn.

  • seechris

I love torture! And pissing off random strangers!

  • GIthePotato

Chris, please tells us want was so desirable about Nixon’s foreign policy? Was it the secret continuation of the Vietnam War after cease fire? Oh, it was because he was killing the ANIMALS in northern Vietnam right?

  • Chris

Huh? I’ve never said I lost my job in the .com bust…Must’ve been a different “Chris”.Clinton did a good job following polls, and not doing anything to “rock the boat” so to speak.

  • Chris

“Chris, please tells us want was so desirable about Nixon’s foreign policy? Was it the secret continuation of the Vietnam War after cease fire? Oh, it was because he was killing the ANIMALS in northern Vietnam right?”Vietman was an ill conceived war, but pulling out was a terrible move that resulted in millions of people dying. I think it’s good that Nixon opened up a dialogue with China..

Neoconservatives are neither new or conservative.History review.Neocons tripled the national deficit from 1981 to 1993 and then more than doubled it again from 2001 to 2009, so now the national debt has been multiplied by 7, BY THE NEOCONS, since Carter. The only balanced budgets, and budget surpluses we have had in the past forty years were under Clinton. Also, the only time the federal government actually got smaller in the past 50 years was under Clinton.Your borrow and spend Republican party is not only *not* fiscally conservative, it spends money like drunken sailors.Make up fabricated intelligence and lie us into an unnecessary invasion and occupation. Ignore hurricane warnings, and ignore the request of the Louisiana Governor to mobilize the National Guard to New Orleans (because all of the LA National Guard is in Iraq, and she can only mobilize the LA N.G.). Ignore the warnings of Nobel laureate Economists (Krugman started screaming in 2005) and instead act surprised when 3 years later the economy collapses like the house of cards that it is.You have so much to *not* be proud of and yet all you can do is criticize a president that has been in office for two weeks. In spite of neocon misinformation, Carter was a good president. He canceled the B1 Bomber, because he was smart and knew that it was obsolete before it went into production. Reagan reinstated it as a corporate welfare favor to Nancy’s rich friends. So we spent at least 20 billion dollars on an aircraft that has never flown a combat mission. It’s the only plane we have that has never flown a single combat mission. Talk about pork.Speaking of pork, I wonder how that Star Wars SDI boondoggle is working out. You do remember that mega pork barrel fiasco, don’t you.Facts in evidence show that the republican party is not only incompetent, it is criminally negligent.Wake up and observe reality. To see what neoconservatism most closely resembles, here are some quote from world history:Hermann Goering, Hitler’s second in command: “Of course the people don’t want war. But after all, it’s the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it’s a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger.”Ernst Rohm, chief of the SA: “The people want wholesome dread. They want to fear something. They want someone to frighten them and make them shudderingly submissive.”Neoconservatism is another name for fascism.

  • jane

    Thank god Git’s here.

  • Chris

Ronald Reagan was not a neoconservative. W? Possibly. Cheney? Probably. The economy was in the ditch, so Reagan decided to cut taxes, and implement supply side economics.Regardless, lables like “neoconservative” are pointless. Few people fit into cute little easily labeled groups…And certainly comparing it to facism is beyond ridiculous.

Absolutely 100% fucking wrong. You were playing a pretty good game here Chris. You had us beleiving you were a smart, but misguided adversary. This statement proves you are nothing but an idiot troll.Time to find something else for you to do.

  • theo

the lesser of two evils is still evil, Chris. Doesn’t moral superiority play a role in your argument? The US shouldn’t torture because it’s wrong, regardless of whether or not the terrorists will torture. Their actions shouldn’t play a role in deciding our actions.

  • veralynn

thank you jane, i did forget>>Ludicrous. Us waterboarding terrorists and suspected terrorists has absolutely no effect on you or the country as a whole. No one would give a shit if the media didn’t spew it’s bullshit.no effect on me? no effect on the country? really? i am offended by the Unted States of America, the shining beacon of freedom treating other human beings like they are animals….just because i was born in the US i am better than evryone else in the world?? wow, your narcissism rivals the idiot bush. let me repeat I AM OFFENDED and ashamed. Now you go ahead and use the talking points about how I cant be disappointed and ashamed of my country. the most patriotic act is to speak out to government when you disagree, again, we fought a revolution for that right. To do anything else is unpatriotic. You may not like President Obama and all the he and those who voted for him, but you have had your chance and the majority of us decided we didnt want to be that way, we wanted to get back to being Americans the founding mothers and fathers could be proud of

  • jane from The Hague

StupidChris (we have a SmartChris), you still haven’t responded about your job and the baby Jesus.I NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU STAND ON THE BABY JESUS!

  • jane from The Hague

    (adding: BABY JESUS!)

  • Alan4s

    I have to address this:

Ludicrous. Us waterboarding terrorists and suspected terrorists has absolutely no effect on you or the country as a whole. No one would give a shit if the media didn’t spew it’s bullshit.

It does have an effect on me. I volunteered 6 years of my life to protect my country, our constitution, and the American way of life and values. (Yeah, I know, cue the Battle Hymn of the Republic. But I’m being serious here.) If I were to beleive now that the values I served to protect were a lie, then I would feel very betrayed. It effects our country. We have no moral leg to stand on when we insist other countries obey simple human rights if we are so quick to jettison those rights if it suits us. By being “strong and tough” against the evil terrorists, we actually make ourselves weak in the eyes of the rest of the world.

  • SillyGit

theo -God bless you for trying, but I don’t think our misinformed friend has any concept of ethics. He doesn’t care that we are violating a treaty by waterboarding. Like many of his ideological persuasion, ethics is the first thing to get ignored if your profit will be harmed. If blowing up women and children is good for Halliburton’s profit margin, so be it.

  • Alan4s

    >> If blowing up women and children is good for Halliburton’s profit margin, so be it.Only brown women and children git, those ones with funny hats and veils.

  • jane from The Hague

Alan and Git, you guys have been rocking mah world today, by the way. Thanks.

  • GIthePotato

    Jane, over mantel GO!

  • Chris

Oh Nooo France doesn’t like the United States!!! Oh, wait…

  • SillyGit

Conspiracy Theory Time.Did anyone ever notice that the targets of the Anthrax letters were all people who were the biggest thorn’s in the Bush Admin. side?Byrd and Leahy were blocking passage of the Patriot act.Brokaw and the other journalists targeted had each done stories highly critical of the Bush administration.Kind of funny that J. Random Anthraxmailer would pick such a target list AND use anthrax from Fort Deidrick.Just sayin.I also noticed that their were no more stories critical of the Bush administration after that.

  • Chris

    SillyGit..Come on dude….You can’t believe such sillyness.

  • theo

IIRC, this country wouldn’t be here if France hadn’t stepped up to help us fight the British. Also, Git, I know he’s beyond reach, but I’m gonna keep trying.Alan: if I haven’t said it before, thanks for your service, man.

  • veralynn

That is what I like aboout you Git….the ability to look around the corners. I had not noticed that, but it is interesting how that worked now that you mention it

  • GIthePotato

    Shit I believe it.Things I don’t believe in:Mythology/ReligionVoodoo Economics

  • jane from The Hague

    Stupidchris: Job? GO! Jesus? GO!

  • theo

seriously, guys, what’s up with the sudden influx of trolls lately?

  • Kat

Theo – it means that Bob is doing all the right things. :D

  • theo

    tru dat, Kat.

  • jane from The Hague

Theesericious, I posted a linky on yer wall that has a nice breakdown of trolls, where they come from, why they proliferate, etc. Only somewhat relevant to GDAB, but interesting. Can I call you my gay underage innernets wife? You cool with that?

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

Oh whatever, if splashing a little water on someone’s face is going to save us from nuclear bombs going off simultaneously in every populated and rural area in our country at the same time, which will trigger anthrax geysers ebola rain, then I say all options are on the table. We all know terrorists melt when they get wet. Also too, it’s not like torturing people will make them mad at our country. And such as.

  • Chris

lol @ the Bush administration not receiving any negative press? Good God people.

  • GIthePotato

Theo,When Bob hits a homerun on the HUFFPO it brings out the Trolls for a couple weeks. Don’t worry they can’t take the heat forever. I will never stop trashing them. It is therapeutic for me.

  • jane from The Hague

    I smell pie.

  • GIthePotato

HOLY FUCK BALLS!!! IT HAS ENTERED INTO THE THUNDER DOME!!!Welcome to troll trashing heaven my conservative limp dick friend.

  • theo

Jane: FUCK YES I AM ALRIGHT WITH THATGI: Yeah, it’s good for me as well. It pisses me off when people who haven’t served try to talk to you about the military though, as I’m sure it pisses you off.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

Here’s the deal. I’m going to go walk my dog in the snow, while smoking a cigar and listening to KMFDM, and when I come back I expect that everyone will have come to an agreement. After tonight, every thread shall be nothing more than a compliment exchange.I’ll start; Ceu and Jane are pretty and smart.

  • Chris

You guys are such hardasses. So “open minded”.

  • theo

    Alaska: ooh, which KMFDM?

  • jane from The Hague

Awwww. And Gravel has great taste in comedy, and writes a kickass blog. Also, Joe looks damn good over my couch.

  • GIthePotato

Christopher,My mind is open please expand it. I want to hear more about the ANIMALS.

  • Packy

Dear StupidChris:It’s not that they aren’t open-minded.It’s just that they are capable of recognizing complete and utter horseshit when they hear it.Then they become hardasses.

  • jane from The Hague

Theo is the smartest goddamn jailbait I’ve seen in a while.Smartchris is smaaaaaart.Carl is waaaaay too smart to be wasting time on Broadway, but so far the entertainment industry is resilient, so more power to him.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

I’ve been stuck on Hau Rock as of late.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

    *Hau Ruck!

  • jane from The Hague

    Packster is a funny motherfucker.

  • theo

I am increasingly fond of you Alaska.

  • jane from The Hague

Packy and Gravel alone more than make up for the Palin clan.

  • jane from The Hague

    Who needs insulin??

  • Packy

There is no doubt that Janeoyovich is Teh Hot! and is far smart too, you betcha. And also.Oh! StupidChris IS biodegradable and such as!

  • jane from The Hague

Packy, how do you know it is biodegradable?

  • Packy

I love all you damn people!

  • Kat

Oohhh…it’s turned into a lovefest! Okay, Jane is absolutely right, Chris (ceu) is wayyyy smart, and can pull us back from the brink like nobody’s business. Theo can totally hang with us old people. Carlos can lay a wicked smackdown (seriously, Palin in the ass? That was damn funny.) Packy does a wonderful job of apologizing for his state, even when he doesn’t need to. And Jane has the best collection of sex toys ever.

  • Packy

    >> Packy, how do you know it is biodegradable? You are right, Haguester Teh Jane.I was just hazarding a guess, and have no data, empirical or otherwise, on which to base my assumption.I stand corrected.

  • theo

man, the second the troll leaves, we start with the mush….I love you guys too.

  • Kat

Now what are we supposed to be agreeing on?

  • jane from The Hague

Kat, that was Gypsy with the sex toys. I just chain men up in my basement.Speaking of, Gypsy can hold her goddamn tequila! (usually).Kat is one cool fucking Mom. And erudite, and Rachel would be lucky to have her.

  • jane from The Hague

It prolly hasn’t left. Just trying to figure out how to get us pissed off again.

  • Redmond

“They’ll be back. And in greater numbers.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi.

  • Chris

So, when’s the next Anti Israel/Pro Palestine rally, fellas? :-)

  • theo

speaking of star wars, does anyone else find the word ‘midichlorians’ oddly sexy?

  • Redmond

I find the word “midichlorians” insanely offensive. Mostly because of it’s high retardation factor that pissed all over my childhood.

  • theorem!

you mean, the next anti war-crimes rally? right now, man.

  • theo

    awe, sorry, Red.

  • Kat

When did we mention Israel? And SillyGit writes some of the longest, but most well thought-out comments.

  • Chris

Yes. Those events where lots of crazy and angry people gather together to shout non sensical things and hold up inappropriate sings. When is it?

  • Packy

We wants it, we needs it.Must have the precious! They stole it from us. Sneaky little liberals! Wicked, tricksy, false!

  • jane from The Hague

I have my sing ready to hold up.

  • ceu

Aw, Elwood….you make me blush, although I agree with the part about Jane.I just came back to this thread ’cause when I said I was done, I meant it. BUT – you guys can be so damn smart. Nothing like a troll to bring out the best in us. You make me humble to be part of this group. And, Chris – we aren’t required to be “open-minded” about bullshit. We’ve been the voices in the wilderness for far too long while people like you have been busy suckling at the breast of the GOP. You came to our house & started spewing idiocies; we called you on it. If you don’t like it, suck it – the door’s there in the upper right corner.

  • jane from The Hague

    What Smartchris said. SUCK IT.

  • theo

yeah, where did Israel come from, troll? Have you just run out of bullshit to spew on other topics so you’re turning to one you haven’t proved your ignorance on yet?Packy wins a prize for awesomeness.

  • Kat

    I lurve ceu.

  • jane from The Hague

Now who else needs some love?Minx is generous with her slanket.Red is the BOOB MASTER. We bow to his expertise.

  • jane from The Hague

Alan has Brought The Noise today.

  • Kat

I agree Jane.Veralynn gives out the love all the time. She doesn’t require prompting like bitches such as myself.

  • jane from The Hague

Vera takes the high road. She’s top shelf.

  • Packy

    >>> Yes. Those events where lots of crazy and angry people gather together to shout non sensical (sic) things and hold up inappropriate sings. When is it?StupidChris: The Senate Republicans were speaking from the floor earlier today. You missed it?

  • Kat

Elwood is gonna be so proud.

  • veralynn

aw shucks, thanks guysyou guys make it easy, i am usually very bitchyI do have a question though, I was just watching David Brooks on Charlie Rose….why, how does he get on the tv? Halperin too, I just dont get it

  • jane from The Hague

Stupidchris’ last comments made me think of shit like this.

  • jane from The Hague

I have my inappropriate sing, Packy. You got yours?

  • Kat

I can’t sing, inappropriate or otherwise, so I’ll just have to leave Jane and Packy to it.

  • Packy

Actually, Jane, I’m pretty sure my sing WOULD be deemed inappropriate… and I do have some data to back that up (if ya know what I mean).

  • jane from The Hague

    Here’s my sing.Stupidchris, here’s your sign.

  • veralynn

have a wonderful rest of the evening, or morning everyone

  • ceu
  • theo

honestly, whoever taught Jane to link should be beheaded. although, I loves me some Phil Ochs.

  • Packy

    Stupidchris, here’s another SIGN

  • SillyGit

My inappropriate sing is a little ditty called “Barnacle Bill the Sailor”.

  • Packy

Whoohooo! I inserted an HTML link!I yam so PROUD (bein’ old and such as).

  • Chris

So…quite the party in here. You guys got your welfare checks yet? Heh

  • theo

    mmkay, now it seems drunk.

  • ceu

woohoo, Packy! We’re proud of you!Off to hunt for my welfare check – I musta misplaced it with my lottery tickets & payment coupons for my gold-plated cadillac.

  • jane from The Hague

Hey, Welfarechris, whaddabout that JOB I was asking about for fucking HOURS now?And don’t forget Jesus. I need to know where you stand.

  • jane from The Hague

Adding: Stupidchris, I can’t wait up all night again for no fucking answer. Gotta WORK tomorrow and all.

  • Packy

This may explain a lot about Stupidchris.

  • Packy

“Bare Bones Guide to HTML” may have created a monster.Heh.

  • jane from The Hague

    (gives Packy a well-deserved attaboy.)JOBS! JESUS! I’m still waiting.

  • SillyGit

    Good one, Packy.

  • jane from The Hague

Git? you there? who was the “dot-com layoff” today? If not Stupidchris, was it CNN? Chris denies that was him.

  • Packy

Republican Senator Rick Thune displays his VERY THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING of the stimulus package.

  • Packy

    Is this thing on?

  • jane from The Hague

It’s on, Packster. We cleaned house it seems, and the normal people have just gone to bed or something sensible like that. (‘Course it’s what, like 3 pm there? Sun’s still up and all?)

  • Packy

Jane, It’s fairly early here, yet, being a furrin’ country and such as. But it’s been Teh Dark for a while.I don’t think Stupidchris is going to respond on that “job?” query.

  • jane from The Hague

sadly, I think you’re right. Queries seem to scare it off. (note to self)Oh well! back to dubbing some more daily/colbert before passing out and going back to work.Good job today.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

Hey Jane, just got in. What’d I miss?

  • Packy

Hey Carl! The usual.Jane scared a troll back under its bridge…

  • jane from The Hague

Dear god, Carl. It out-threaded the open thread again. It held stupid positions, it pretended to have sense and agree with a thing or two, it made Git think it might not be a troll (I think that situation is fixed). It has not answered my question about its job or how it feels about the baby Jesus. (I will continue that line of questioning when it inevitably shows back up.)

  • jane from The Hague

Adding: the lovefest from about 11:37 pm was fun.

  • theo

time check! how old is this thread?

  • jane from The Hague

    ancient. timeless.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

    I created a monster.

  • jane from The Hague

    A love monster, Elwood.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

I just caught up. Wow, what a maroon. What a ta-rah-rah-boom-de-ay! Love the Thune link. Another maroon. This is the same idiot who thought to take $900 Billion and give it in tax breaks. That’ll create jobs I guess. Goodnight guys. Good troll hnting.Tonight, we dine in hell!

  • Packy

You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet, my friend.

  • Packy

    Goodnight, all.

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

Alright, who is the sumbitch that taught Packy the html!

  • jane from The Hague

Assumed it was you, El. As in, “I created a monster.”

  • http://www.ieatgravel.com/ I Eat Gravel in Alaska

No way, the monster I created was turning the troll-thread into a Kumbaya love-fest.

  • SillyGit

jane – I’m not sure who it was either, but I would have sworn it was Chris. It might have been origins or cnn, but I thought it was chris. I was surprised when he denied it.

  • Alan4s

In case you check back, I looked through the other threads. It was cnn/origins who was laid off in the dot com bust.
