“As long as I’ve lived in Los Angeles, talking about how much you hate Los Angeles is one of the popular pastimes of people who live in Los Angeles.”I’ve noticed it, too. Odd.”In a bizarre twist, I’m moving to New Mexico to make movies.”California seems to be *punishing* independent and low budget filmmakers more and more.I listened to an old interview with Clint Eastwood, who was on the set of Gran Torino at the time. He said, “I believe that Michigan is the next movie capital of the world.” The statement blew my mind. Eastwood is certainly among the ten best living directors, so one can’t dimiss the statement as fantasy. Also, Michigan is in desperate need of such a rebirth, so I hope it’s true.

Michigan has some great incentives but New Mexico has a better long term philosophy, weather and less of a pain in the ass structure in place. And New Mexico is starting to try and ‘grow their own’ by really supporting indie film in addition to brining Hollywood in. But Michigan, Louisiana…a few places are really going hard after the entertainment industry…

Lee,I’d love to be on that show some time, but I think I’d piss Bob off so much he’d have a coronary event, or a Big Mac; whichever is worse.

Alas, no Elvis…How about a topic?

  • cminri

I hope people will call in this time.

  • ceu

alas, the first part of the finale of Top Chef is also at 10…

  • Robert

Hey Guys,Keep up the dueling. You give readers lots to think think about and this helps us develop informed ideas of our own.

  • Lee Stranahan

So far, Bob and I are doing the “Larry King” school of show prep but that might change when I develop a LOT more free time in a week or so…Gotta get Elvis on, too…

There’s a call-in number that’s available anytime during the show. Open phones, as they say in talk radio.

Yes, Bob, but in talk radio, there’s a lot more bullshit and negativity. I listened to your last “broadcast” and came away fairly impressed with the tone.Every time I listen to AM talk radio, I leave it feeling very, very negative.

  • gypsy

ppp, what does give you positive feeling? ;)

  • jane

    PPP hasn’t heard Stephanie Miller.

  • http://unrelatedcontent.com Travis D

ppp would hate Stephanie Miller because she chooses sides and supports the UN

Travis,That has got to be the most ignorant political statement I’ve ever read.Of course I choose sides, Travis. But, my young Jedi, you must learn that there are more than two sides.

Gypsy,I can think of something that would make me feel positive. Lot’s of things. Like beer, smoking a cigarette in a public place, a stogey (any brand will do), shooting guns (you should try it; so long as you don’t have to shoot at someone else, it’s really fun). Making memories with good friends and family. And the number one thing that makes me feel positive? Any time I spend with my daughter. Even though she’s sixteen, she still has the ability to be a joy in my life even on the worst days.
