Epic Fail

On Friday, Rush Limbaugh was wishing for the recovery bill to fail:

“I want everything he’s doing to fail… I want the stimulus package to fail…. I do not want this to succeed.”

As I was reading this quote, I was thinking the exact same thing that Benen wrote here:

If a prominent progressive figure said, just as the president was sending troops into war in early 2003, “I want everything he’s doing to fail. I want the war in Iraq to fail. I do not want the president’s national security agenda to succeed,” he or she would lose all advertising revenue and be fired.

Exactly. Public apology tours. Congressional resolutions rebuking the guilty. Accusations of emboldening the terrorists. The works.

    so we should assume that he wants the presidents national security policies to fail as well right?we should assume that this miserable greasestain is rooting for an attack of some sort here on american soil.if he gets his way and all of pres. obamas policies fail completely,all the american citizens who havent been murdered by terrorists will be living under bridges,feeding their families out of garbage cans.rush limbaugh:a truly great american.

    At what point is freedom of speech replaced by that yelling fire in a crowded theater thing?Isn’t there something we can do in an organized way to get this fucker off the air?Its one thing to respect all points of view; another altogether to leave reason behind and allow a platform for what amounts to domestic terrorism.I wonder if anyone has assembled a list of Limbaugh’s sponsors….hmmm…another morning in paradise!

    You have said so clearly the things that have been jumbled in my head about the whole “liberal media” thing. The repugs shout to everyone “liberal media, liberal media” and everyone believes it. Yet, if there were truly a liberal media, Rush would have been taken down by a Senate resolution last month.The hypocrisy of the Grand Obstructionist Party is amazing!I say we have Lee form another petition to have a resolution introduced just like the one against moveon.org. All they did was use a little language to get across a message. What Rush is doing is downright unAmerican. I don’t use that term lightly, becuase I believe everyone should be able to say what they want. However, the rules should be the same on both sides.Once again, this story makes me very glad I have found this blog. It makes me believe we, as a country, do have a chance.Thank you once again Bob for renewing my faith in America, Goddammit!

    All you had to do really was question any program Bush wanted to implement and you would be assaulted with accusations of hating America and wanting the terrorists to win.And all that was required for them to spy on us, listen in on our phone conversations, read our email, and monitor our web traffic was for us to simple be Americans. That was suspicious behavior enough for them to mistrust us.
