I Mean, Really

Who votes against protecting old people from being abused and beaten?

25 House Republicans. That’s who.

Smart!

Crap, I see that my Rep. Tim “There’s no problem we can’t drill our way out of” Murphy voted for it. The senior citizens here love him (blech.)Oh, and when I mean he thinks we can’t fix EVERYTHING by drilling, I mean that in the very literal sense. And speaking of, I see I finally got the Free Sarah Palin Calendar! ad.

Congressman Flake (R-AZ) and the others bravely voted with their heart and not with their head. As every Republican knows, old people don’t need protection from abuse. They need another tax cut for millionaires!

In fairness, they thought they were voting against protecting sickly orphans from being caned for the entertainment of Joseph Pulitzer, who watched through opera glasses from his yacht. I mean Pulitzer’s dead so legislating against this would just be a waste of taxpayer dollars. Also… caning sickly orphans is funny. There, I said it.

Oh, and I should mention that I immensely enjoy saying “Congressman Flake.” It has a real ring of truth to it……….

CurlyL., you’re the one who cracked me up when you talked about the “Rainbow Coalition GOP” the other day. LOL…Of course, Congressmen Inglis and Barrett of SC also voted against this measure. Why do they hate elderly people? Grrr…If you strip away all of the things and people the Republicans hate or are against, what IS their platform? What do they stand for? Also, it they’re so convinced that government is “the problem” then why don’t they stay the fuck away from it? Why cheat, steal, and lie to be a part of what they see as “The Big Problem?”

Here in SC, they do much worse than kicking puppies. Gov. Sanford and the Republicans don’t seem to have a problem kicking people who are dying either.Dying residents of South Carolina may lose hospice benefits, and sick children may not have coverage for cough medicine in the wake of the state’s budget crisis.Medicaid released a 21-point list of services to be cut as of Feb. 1. The slashing is in response to the $61 million budget cut handed down last week. To date, Medicaid has been cut by a total of $137 million this fiscal year. Combined with matching federal dollars, that amount swells to $459 million. One sweeping change is the elimination of the Medicaid hospice benefit. Patients currently admitted will have Medicaid pay through April 30, said Tamra West with The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care, which represents more than 100 hospice providers in North and South Carolina.http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/dec/18/medicaid_cuts_will_be_severe65430/HELP! Someone please rescue me from the wretched state that is SC!

And make them wear pink undies when they’re staying in our fine “retirement community”.
