Just A Reminder

Every Republican (except Snowe, Specter and Collins) voted against the largest middle class tax cut of all time.

Benen summarizes:

Obama’s tax-cut plan in the recovery package is not only arguably bigger than any previous plan, but it’s also better targeted. George W. Bush’s tax cuts were long-term income-tax rate cuts, which amounted to a generous break for those at the top, since the wealthy pay most income taxes.

I’ve been wondering why Obama and team have not been repeating this every five seconds–

  • J M Ashby

This message needs to be drilled into the heads of voters during midterm elections.

  • Nanotyrnns

Do you mean they were for the tax cuts before they were against them?

  • Packy

JG – Obama needs to be above the fray. But the DNC needs to be driving the message home. Over and over. And over, too.

  • vyccan

JG, maybe they’re not repeating it because …a) it might make it seem like a game (as opposed to serious governing)b) they have the liberal blogosphere &/ real liberal media to take this role.

  • vyccan

Hey Packy,We were practically on the same wavelength!

  • Packy

vyccan,The Democratic National Committee should have been on this a week ago. It’s really not Obama’s job, it’s their job.But if they won’t do it, he must.Keep in mind – Obama won in spite of the DNC’s help, not because of it.Obama has the organization in place to make it happen. The same grassroots, alternate media that helped get him elected.Plouffe is still working on the grassroots, trying to hold the interest of the masses, making them feel significant. Obama or one of his people should do a YouTube video.Or Plouffe could cause one to be done.

Big Money doesn’t LIKE it when working people get a tax break!

  • crshedd

every 2 years i hear the gop saying ‘my democrat (sic) opponent voted to raise taxes 999 times!’someone keep count. the house of reps voted twice on the stimulus bill (once house version, once conference committee version). in 2 years we can say ‘our republican opponent voted against tax cuts X number of times!’

  • Snork

I don’t think they mind it if the people receiving the tax breaks are actually working!
