‘Life In Your Years’

My wife wrote a great tribute to President Lincoln at her vintage blog. Especially worth checking out is the featurette about Monday night’s History special: Stealing Lincoln’s Body. The CG version of Lincoln is eerily realistic.

Go look!

That looks awesome! They had pretty much ruined the concept with those hideous Orville Redenbacher commercials a couple years back. This just might redeem it.

Thanks for the link – that was a great post – and I’m very much hoping to catch the History Channel show! :) (Actually it was on in my media market during the leadup to the inauguration – I just didn’t catch it – so I hope it is indeed repeating in my area on Monday!)QT

I already praised Mrs. The Bob Cesca on her Lincoln Tribute, but only after demanding she redact the word “gentleman” in the original draft. I then had to provide scholarly research to support my claim that Lincoln was no “gentleman” in the classic Southern sense, based on reportage provided by Mary Todd Lincoln’s older sister.I then spent the rest of the evening staring at my own Lincoln Tribute and shaking my head at what a self-indulgent pile of poop it was.

Being born (less than a mile from the site of his ‘Lost Speech’), raised and still living in the heart of Lincoln country, I’m still amazed at the greatness of this man. If you are ever in Illinois (that place south of Chicago), take some time to visit his museum in Springfield. It is worth the trip.
