From the president’s budget, this makes me grin from ear to ear:

the Administration proposes a five-year $5 billion high-speed rail State grant program. Building on the $8 billion down payment in the American recovery and reinvestment Act of 2009, the President’s proposal marks a new Federal commitment to give the traveling public a practical and environmentally sustainable alternative to flying or driving.

    Well sure it’s practical, if you want to take the kids gambling in Vegas after a day at Disneyland. But what about the rest of us?It’s a great idea, really. I can’t wait to see the wingnuts heads all asploding when they come across this.

    sorry bob,i know im off the subject but ive got to say this.did anyone catch glenn beck the other day displaying the huge red banner of president obama depicted as a communist leader saying something like “do as i say,im your leader.”can you imagine the wild boohoo-ing and demands for apologies we’d be hearing if keith olberman put up something like that depicting bush?i hate to admit it but this maniac is really getting to me.limbaugh,hannity etc…they are plainly unserious bubbleheads and easily laughed off.but beck is dangerously stupid.stupid because he’s so fucking stupid.but dangerous because hes deliberately inciting the absolute sickest and most gullible of the far right militia types.what infuriates me most is the hypocrisy of it all.when it came to president bush we were told that any/all criticism was detrimental to our troops morale.and furthermore,it was simply disrespectful,particularly during a time of war.now as far as i can tell we are still at war.in addition,these fox wingnuts have the balls to get on the air every night and hoot and holler about the “liberal media”.i wish one of them would just pull an “imus” so we can be done with em’ for good.

    As long as they don’t waste this money in places like Wisconsin, where there just won’t be enough use of it to support the cost, I’m all for it. East Coast/West Coast stuff for sure.
