My Twitter Talk With Joe Scarborough

Joe Scarborough is on Twitter and I just had this conversation with him online.

Stranahan: @JoeNBC I write for HuffPost and I’m a friend of Bob Cesca – but it’s time to do an intervention with you two…let’s bridge the gap

JoeNBC: @Stranahan I don’t know what hurt more. Him comparing me to Joseph McCarthy or Steve Doocy. I kid. I kid!!!
18 minutes ago from web

Stranahan: @JoeNBC Cesca and I do a BlogTalkRadio show tonight and feel free to call in – but you’ll be asleep, I bet. http://snurl.com/c4wg9 (expand)

Stranahan: @JoeNBC Or better yet – get Bob Cesca on Morning Joe…..he’d be a great guest for you.
12 minutes ago from web

Stranahan: @JoeNBC Personally, I don’t think you’re a KoolAid drinking Republican – but I think you hit the same talking points sometimes – ex. Fannie
11 minutes ago from web

JoeNBC: @Stranahan But just because some R’s say it doesn’t mean it is not true. Fannie started it. Then banks. Then Wall Street. Then the world.
9 minutes ago from web

JoeNBC: @Stranahan I am not blaming this on “poor people.” I’m blaming it on everyone.
8 minutes ago from web

JoeNBC: @Stranahan Will he call me Steve Doocy?
7 minutes ago from web

Stranahan: @JoeNBC My understanding is that demand for mortgage based securities created the really stupid loans; Fannie / Freddie was incidental
6 minutes ago from web

Stranahan: @JoeNBC And I think the Fannie Freddie blame has a racist / classist undertone – it’s THEIR fault the economy tanked…those poor people
5 minutes ago from web ·

Stranahan: @JoeNBC Well, on our show I’m the more post-Obama liberal but Bob’s a great guy and really would be a lively guest.

  • ElMystico

If you do manage to get Bob on Morning Joe, you guys will have to tell us just how much vodka is in their gift baskets.

  • AdyLeigh

Awww…he’s askeert of being called Steve Doocy?I woulda said, “No, Joe, he won’t. He’d rather say ‘fuck you’ while on national TV just like you did.”

  • thruwithbuzz

Hey Travis, read it like a script.

  • Kyle W.

Translation: The first name is speaking to (@) the second name. For those nontwitterers.

Awesome, Lee. :) Anything we can do to help, just say…!QT

Two odd things, from my perspective.More than two….1. You’re chatting with Joe.2. The transcript confirms many things.2(a) You both think the foregoing is a compliment.2(b) One of you is half right.

  • Lexaburn

Schmoozing on the elite media dorks’ shiny new Internet hole. Can’t say I’m impressed.

  • http://cousinavi.wordpress.com cousinavi

shiny new internet hole.i was here when it was named.I am the 3G wavy gravy, what we have in mind is breakfast in bed for 400,000 Cescans.

To: Mr. Whomever Books Guests for Morning Joe.From: KatI would consider it both an early birthday and Christmas present if you would book Mr. Bob Cesca for Morning Joe so the aforementioned Mr. Cesca can wipe the floor with Mr. Scarborough. I have complete confidence that and and all floor-wiping will be done in a most polite and competent manner.Thank you for your attention in this matter.

To: Mr. Whomever Books Guests for Morning Joe:From: QueenTiyeWhat Kat said. And also, Bob will look gorgeous doing it. Excellent for ratings. Thanks in advance for your consideration.QT

  • Lee Stranahan

Dear Haters,Guess what? You’re schmoozing with Bob, Elvis, Jumpy, Packy, me, whoever here…and so?I talk to a lot of people on Twitter. I do think it’s neat. The irony of you complaining in comments probably eludes you.

  • http://cousinavi.wordpress.com cousinavi

gorgeous doing it?bloggers have groupies?I type from the land of the ice and snow….

  • http://cousinavi.wordpress.com cousinavi

schmoozing? SCHMOOZING???Listen up, flappy…I’m not schmoozing. The simple fact that I pay attention ought not puff you up…you’re not nearly as sharp as you think you are. You are energetic, and that counts for something (but who’s counting, eh?)Bless me to pieces. Hobnobbing with Bob….murgatroyd.

  • Lee Stranahan

It’s just a very passive aggressive form of schmoozing…it’s pretty common…I’ll probably just explain it on the radio show tonight..easier than typing it out…

  • http://www.windonwater.net QueenTiye

I want a button. Bob. Can we get a “Bob Groupie” button?QT

  • CJ

    Scarborough:

“…just because some R’s say it doesn’t mean it is not true.”

Agreed. In addition, just because some R’s say it doesn’t mean it is true.If R’s say it and Scarborough says it and it’s not true, then Scarborough is, by definition, a Republican hack. Therefore, Scarborough is a Republican hack.

  • CJ

Incidentally, please avoid getting sucked into this Fannie/Freddie discussion without forcefully calling it what it is…a continuation of Nixon’s Southern Strategy.Of course Morning Joe will deny it because he’s a liar. But this Fannie/Freddie nonsense is just another tactic from the GOP’s race-baiting playbook, and it works wonders with voters where I live (Cobb County, GA–home of Newt “we need more orphanages” Gingrich and Curious George/Obama t-shirts).

  • Kyle W.

Talking to mainstream media figures on Twitter mimics the way the mainstream media converses with our political leaders. If you don’t meet the minimal level of brown-nosing, you won’t get any responses. It’s just a reality.

  • Lexaburn

Oh, hell no…Y’all are gonna have to cut out the cryptic slights to yours truly, ok. I like this site too much to start believing you’re all snobs like at the Huffpo.I’m not “schmoozing” here at all. I visit this place EVERYDAY, commenting only occasionally. You’ll never see me “schmoozing” because that’s not how I roll, ok.From where I stand, “schmoozing” is what impressionable wanna-be snobs do with the elites they criticize. Not naming any names. Truly, I’m not.I just find it odd that Scarborough can lie like a rug, and, generally speaking, be the repugnant GOP bastard that he is on TV, and we’re supposed to treat him with kid gloves because some of you are chatting with him on this sudden fad-nomenon called Twitter. I’m not on Twitter currently, but I am here on Bob Cesca’s site. These media figures hold no real weight on here, do they? Why should we even dignify them here? This bozo, Scarborough was calling us all Cheeto-eating so & sos, and we’re supposed tobe tickled pink ‘cuz he chooses to hobnob on the Twitter thing like all the other swine? Please!I’m attempting not to get testy, but if I’m unable to express my apprehension to the banal formalities of people I respect chatting with disingenuous, mock bully TV slime like Scarborough online…Well, is there a problem with anything I wrote before this here message? Make it plain.I’m saying…It seems like indulgences of “Twittering” are being pushed on us like the joys of being a pod person in Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Sue me for my believing it’s a little weird that EVERYONE on TV and the ‘Net are all of a sudden talking up this Twitter site. It’s a skoch creepy.

  • Packy

Lee,I’m flattered to be included as schmoozable, but it’s not strictly true.In fact, the last time I schmoozed, I pulled a groin muscle.

  • http://obamaproject.windonwater.net QueenTiye

Lex: I think your upset for no reason. In my RL and likely Lee’s, schmoozing is a necessary part of doing business. Getting good at it is a career skill. I’m still learning and probably gonna bite Lee’s style (might be dating myself with that expression, but whatevs). Don’t have to like it, but nice folk and schmucks have to rub shoulders in the real world… learning to do it while maintaining one’s core integrity is part of what people either succeed at or become sellouts.I’d like to think that Lee and Bon are on the right course.QT

  • Lexaburn

I’m not upset for no reason. I think the one referring to me as a “hater” got upset for no reason. Not to stress the issue too much, but I simply left a comment and my vernacular was mocked by a few too craven to actually speak to insult me directly. Not that I’m upset, mind you, I just found it all very, very curious, is all.A mighty high tower you all are climbing, but begging the likes of Morning Joe for table scraps makes some of you look a little pathetic, I must say.See, we can all play the indirect insults game, uh, Lee, was it?You’re all no different than the damned con-servative bullies like Scarborough and Hannity – you’r just less famous.Got it! And I’m gone. You can all enjoy your time schmoozing amongst whomever, ok, snobs.Toodles, dahlings!

  • http://obamaproject.windonwater.net QueenTiye

Oh! Lex, sorry to just be getting back. I fell asleep almost immediately after that post. You may not know, but Lee catches a lot of grief around here… he probably reacted over-defensively (and to be fair, Travis’s remarks in the first comment were a direct dig). I’m sure he meant you no harm, and I hope you do come back.QT

  • RadarF

Dude…I love this site but Lee man…you were almost begging him there. The worst part is that it wasn’t for YOU but for Bob.I’m really not trying to pile it on but I’m just gonna call it as I see it, as you guys do — and why I love you for it.Honestly, who gives a crap about being on that EM show? I know you guys have careers to think about but come on, it’s not so bad over here with us, is it?
