From David Corn @ MotherJones: This week, Campaign for America’s Future, a progressive group that supports Obama’s plan, sent out an email to supporters reporting, “We’ve gotten word from our progressive friends on Capitol Hill that If that’s so, it’s dire news for the Obama White House.

The Great Unwashed shall rise up and force a crappy bill upon the American people like it or not! Borrowing more money from China shall make our economy ROAR in the long term.

The economic growth from 1982ish-2007ish was just so terrible!

I guess, GM, we found out the hard way that it was. One bubble after another and our economy propping up our own demise. And so, here we are. But anyway, if you’ve got a constructive opinion to offer, you can do it at my site (you’ve got zero cred here…)QT

    >>The economic growth from 1982ish-2007ish was just so terrible!Oh yeah…the economic growth in the 80s was staggering. Unemployment hitting a high of 10.8% in Dec 1982. By the time it got under 7%, some fools thought this country was BOOMING! Yup, those were fun times indeed – taxes going up, services being cut, national debt out of control. Ah, the good old days…

Ah, the good old days…”Yeah, Reagan had to clean up the high inflation, high interest rates, and high unemployment rates of the 1970′s..and particularly of Jimmy Cater.Carter gets credit for appointing Volker, but not much else. (Terrible president)If you come the economic stability of post Reagan, to the pre Reagan years..It’s not even close. We’ve had it incredibly well for almost 3 decades…Deficit spending, and handing out loans to unqualified people caught up to us.

If this giant crap sandwich is passed, i am going to stop paying taxes. I do not need what this house and senate and whitehouse is selling. If all of you idiots actually read the entire plan, yes it takes a good long while, but this is our money and all of us will have to pay for it for years and years, you will see that 90% of this shit is just to enlarge government. You will not get a job out of this, you will get to stand in line for your handout from the government. This is communism-plain and simple, the government giving you what they think that you need, not what you ask for or would go out and get without interference from big brother. I do not want to live in communist america. Its here and I am not going to be part of it, or pay for it. No taxation without representation!!!!!!!

I just got through to a real live person in Reid’s office, and was shunted by an operator to a VM box for Pelosi. Messages are being taken.

  • Meh

I am not very good with phones – I emailed every one of them. Have a feeling that emails may not “count” as much as phone calls.

Ugh – the posturing all over the media right now is sickening. So many people are slipping between the cracks. And as soon as people are poor, they lose their voice and are off the radar. They will remain off the radar until the balance between have’s and have-not’s gets so skewed that there can be no more pretending that the have’s are the norm and can keep things afloat with their denialism and hot air.

Those who are not really feeling the sting keep huffing and puffing across the stage in the belief that that they are in a society that is relatively stable and that has the luxury to entertain their theatrics.

We don’t have time, and people’s patience and propriety slip away very quickly when they are forced to fight for basic survival.

    Keep thinking of pre-revolutionary France.

And as for “big government” – booga booga. Please. When we overthrow sovereign nations with lies and can bully other countries to go along with us or stay out of the way – that is big government. When we spy on everyone, and encourage citizens to spy on one another – that is big government. When old chums of those in power get bid-free taxpayer-funded contracts allowing them to “rule” (read: terrorize) colonized populations overseas – that is big government.

I’ll take “big government” that maintains the roads and school buildings, can make sure that children are fed if they have no food, that educates the future generations. I’ll take that any day.

You want to live by your own means? Go ahead and stop paying taxes. Just don’t drive on any roads, don’t receive any mail, don’t expect any safety standards for any food or meds you ingest. Go ahead and try to find a spot for your cabin out in the woods – hopefully you can still find a plot of land not ravaged by seekers of coal, gas or oil. You know, by the friends of the “small” government you love.
