Did you catch our President’s speech on reducing the budget deficit this morning?

No wonder he has the Republicans doing a duck and cover, especially in the public opinion pools. He stole their playbook, their catch phrases and plays it better they do.

He took ‘tax cuts’. Now he’s taking ‘responsibility’. Forever, the GOP has been able to pretend they were the grownups. They fooled people into thinking that they were the adults while they painted the Democrat Party as pie-eyed dreamers who want to pave the ghetto with government cheese paid for by stealing hard working people’s vacation fund.

But President Obama – in words, actions and his manner – is exposing the GOP’s bull for the steaming pile that it is. Maybe the next Republican canard to fall will be “Freedom”.

    It was a short and impressive speech. Our President delivered one sentence after another that had to have been a bolt of pain to any members of the previous administration. We now can see why there was no response to Katrina. Bush did not budget one penny for disaster handling/recovery. What kind of President does this?Thank God we replaced that incompetent fool with a real leader.Lee, it’s nice having a President that is a pleasure to listen to isn’t it?

    I wish that I could remember who said this first so that I could give proper credit; there is a Chinese/Japanese “curse” that states: “May you live in interesting times.”.We are living in interesting times, and for some, it’s been a curse. I hope, as I believe you do, Lee, that they will become a blessing.

    the equivalent of this would be if George Bush had come into office talking about tackling climate change and pushing for universal health care. The criticism from those of us on the left would ring very shallow and hollow, just like republicans sound these days.
