I’m near Brandon (actually Seffner). I know where Bradenton and Sarasota are, but I’ve never been there. Half way between here and Bradenton is probably near Sun City.

Veralynn -This is the nice time of year in Tampa Bay.In another 2 months the humidity will roll in and stay until late november. I could not live here without AC. In July and August around here, stepping outside is like stepping into a dog’s mouth. Hot and wet.

Well, back when Gov. Sanford played chicken with economic disaster by refusing to ask for federal money to fund unemployment, the other Republican lawmakers called him “heartless and cruel.” FIRST time I’ve ever agreed with a Republican too. Anyway, he finally asked for the money 5 hours before the deadline. I do know that Rep. Clyburn (sp?) has him in a headlock and is calling him a honkey racist and shit. Maybe that’ll work? I think these Governors should be required to have a public ceremony where they formally refuse the money in front of anyone who wants to attend. And the we can ALL call them names…

Milledgeville is the home of the Georgia State Women’s Prison, a lake and it is in the middle of the state. In the middle of nowhere, I think it was 2 hours southeast of Atlanta. I spent a week in Milwaukee once and discovered that Wisconson is a very lovely and friendly place. There must have been some dicks there, but they were well hidden.The strawberry festival starts soon in Plant City (12 miles east of me). You might want to check it out.Also, if you have never been to Ybor City, that is the single most important must see in the Tampa Bay area. Busch Gardens is probably the second. Ybor city is the historic old Tampa. All of the best nightclubs and bars are there. Lots of resturants and cigar stores and all kinds of shops.

AdyNative Floridians were wearing parkas today because it was in the 50s.I was wearing shorts and T shirt as per usual.In CT, I never wore my winter coat until the high temp was about 18 or less. If it’s in the 20s I just wear a leather jacket. I haven’t worn my jacket once since I moved to Tampa.

It was 45 degrees here in the shade the other day, and the idiots at my son’s school had wool scarves wrapped around their faces. I love to point and laugh at them. You’re probably used to freezing rain. Real fun to drive in the winter near Erie.I’m originally from suburban Philly. The coldest winters I ever lived through were at Penn State. Being up in the mountains gives you lower temps and more wind but Penn State is probably balmy compared with Wisconsin.CT doesn’t get as cold as central PA. It doesn’t even get as cold as Philly. Being close to an ocean makes a big difference.

We got a lot of lake effect snow up there too. And in Omaha it was just cold as hell all winter–20 degrees below zero, but not as much snow.I lived with a guy down here in SC for 2 years who went to Penn State, and was in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg before ending up in SC somehow. I’d always go with him when he went back up there to visit.
