Scorpions!

According to a new Rasmussen poll, Americans are turning against the recovery bill. 43 percent against, 37 percent in favor. Eric Kleefeld reacts:

So the Republican talking points out there against he bill — too much spending, redistribution of wealth, stacking hundred-dollar bills on top of each other, etc — appear to be having some measure of success.

In the old scorpion vs. frog metaphor, these tactics represent the scorpion stinging the frog. The Rasmussen results and the news today that the Democrats don’t have a filibuster-proof margin yet are, as the metaphor goes, warning signs of the subsequent sinking. If the recovery bill doesn’t pass, we’re all screwed.

Of course this is the case–the media shapes public opinion, and it has been all right wing talking points for two weeks. Again, the right wing has successfully worked the refs. “The media is in the tank for Obama” has achieved its goal–so sad. You knew this would happen–that the media would be all over Obama from the get go.This situation is so serious, and our “liberal” media is the problem.

This is depressing, but on the bright side, maybe they’re against it because it has too many corporate tax cuts.
