This Happens To Every Administration

…But compare the relative smoothness and humble tone exhibited by the Obama administration over the Daschle and Richardson withdrawals with the ridiculousness and insanity of the Bush administration during the Harriet Miers and Bernard Kerik withdrawals.

Sirius Left talk host Lynn Samuels, who’s probably the only PUMA with a radio show, said yesterday that the Obama administration so far is “f-cking everything up” and that the Bush administration never had a problem with vetting cabinet members. Yeah. Well, in addition to Kerik and Miers who both withdrew in disgrace, there were hugely contested confirmation battles over Gonzales, Chertoff, Roberts, Alito and Rice.

Adding… Drudge’s screamer headline today is “IT’S A CIRCUS” with a photo of the president with Tom Daschle. How many different charges against Kerik were there? There was the Taser thing, the mob thing, the illegal immigrant nanny thing, the sexual harassment thing, and on and on. That was a circus.

And also… There’s Linda Chavez, too, who Bush nominated for Labor Secretary. She withdrew her nomination over an illegal immigrant thing, if I recall correctly.

All I have heard so far this morning is he is the worst start to a presidency so far…Good grief it is only 2 weeks…What can we do to turn the media around… this crap has to stop.

Annette,Got $800 trillion? That should be enough to change the tone for a week or so.

i wasnt exactly ready to jump ship over the daschle/geitner tax stuff.however,i have been kinda disappointed with the way things have gone down recently.specifically the way robert gibbs was getting all defensive about reporters asking prefectly reasonable questions.anyway, when the president actually apologized last night,it put it all in perspective and made clear once again why i was so excited about himin the first place.pres. obama apologized after two weeks and a few very minor missteps.bush, after eight full years of one catastrophe after another.after thousands and thousand of lives lost as a direct result of his policies and/or incompetence.the man couldnt even muster up a “my bad” about katrina.barack obama is exactly what a president should be.

Let’s not forget that going into Week 3 all that’s left to fill is HHS, Commerce and Labor. So that PUMA can lick my left nut. Obama was ready on day one to lead. Hahahahahahahah! In your face PUMA!We may have a few issues with the nominees, but the transition has been pretty much smooth and was actually almost over by January 20th.

Yeah..well the retards don’t have it either.. but they sure seem to get their message across very well.. see the next post….from Bob..lolYes, I agree with you 24hrJack… as old Harry used to say.. it stops here.. and Prez accepts that.. something shrub could never do.. That’s what is going to and has made him a great man. It’s one of the reasons I voted for him and am still proud to call him my choice.

Yes, this does happen to every admin. Big difference in how it’s handled. Obama took the blame for something he has no control over. Bush never took blame for much of anything.Personally, I would have been okay had President Obama taken the high road, and said, “How am I supposed to know he’s a tax cheat?”After all, you can only NOMINATE people for the posts available. Whether they get confirmed is up to people not named President Obama.

P3 – I would argue that Obama DID take the high road by apologizing. If he had said, “How was I supposed to know…,” I would have felt like that’s the equivalent of throwing Daschle under the bus, not to mention the fact that it would have added fuel to the fire in the “What’s wrong with the Obama vetting team?” meme.

Second that Broadway. In fact, we just rid ourselves of a President that blamed everybody else for every fuck-up.My major objection to Daschle was not the unpaid tax issue. Wolffe on Olbermann the other night said that although he did scramble to pay the taxes, he actually way overpaid in order to compensate and sort of put the issue to bed by not quibbling about it. My issue was his proximity to the insurance industry. I think we should let them have a seat at the table when it comes to health care reform, but for me there was too much potential for him to be too accommodating to the industry. They’ve made their billions at our expense. We need someone there that will play hardball with them. Daschle wouldn’t have.
