Your Liberal Media

The red bars on the graph precisely coincide with my blood pressure levels.

Incidentally, about an hour ago I was watching the Senate debate on MSNBC and determined that every single word coming out of a Republican yapper was another word in favor of screwing us all really, really hard.

What’s so bad about tax cuts for individuals and businesses? Not rebate checks. Tax cuts, permanent and temporary. It puts more money in the hands of individuals, and incentivizes businesses to expand.

  • Theghostsong

    $.45 return on every dollar.

  • trustno1

Tax cuts for businesses work on paper, not in real life, because they fail to account for human nature. Provide a business with tax cuts so they can hire an additional 50 people, and they will hire 20 and pocket the rest. Doesn’t. Work.

    the same applies to spending.

  • Chris

Tax cuts + infrastructure spending (on projects that are ready to go) are ready to go. They should be capped at 2 years or so. The rest of the crap does not belong in the bill.

I refuse to take anybody who thinks “incentivizes” is an actual word seriously. And I’ll bet this clown is an ‘english only” nutbar too.

Hi, Chris, looks like you and I may have a running debate (I responded in another thread to your accusation of political hackery….). Let me put it this way, any personal tax cut that will put another $100 in my pocket will not change my habits. I will save the money, or it will be eaten up in daily necessities, or I will contribute to the charities I am already doing by best for – the ones that put food on the table of people that are even worse off than I am in this economy. It won’t repair my streets (which are rutted six inch deep and growing grass), retrofit our bridges (I used to live near the one that fell down in Minnesota), educate our children, or provide desperately needed health care for our citizens. I will cheerfully pay higher taxes as long as I think the money is being well spent – and if it isn’t, we have only ourselves to blame.

and yet our idiotic BBQ media continues to ask with a straight face “why Obama is not getting his message out?” Why don’t they ask why the right wing is floating the same failed ideas of the Bush admin, and why not one Republican in the house voted for the bill after Obama made concessions. Our media is sickening me–why are they doing this people are hurting. The debate is OVER–Obama won and Bush’s policies lost.

Bob,You disappoint me. I have no idea why I received your blog. You must learn the art of reaching across the aisle and sharing in the limelight. It might also be a good idea to start thinking, instead of reacting in an unthoughtful way. Your comments are not helpful and are in fact alarming. You sound like a Republican.

  • Ann

When I read this, I got the eerie feeling that the Republicans are going to punish us all for electing Barack Obama.

Only if we let them… we have to hang as tough as the republicans are trying to do… if we let them divide us like they are trying to do then yeah…we let them win.. but thats our fault.. so stick together, and stay on message and support the recovery bill. Support our President and we will defeat them all.

    Barack on!

If tax cuts were the solution, why would all of this have happened in the first place? Our economic policy over the past 8 years has basically been “tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts” with a little deregulation sprinkled in there occassionally.
