As I said in the Malkin post (I noted this same quote there), – I’m not surprised that Rush considers the American public “peasants.”I’m just surprised he said it out loud.Those “peasants” are his audience.

Elvis -I found that hating everyone with a Whitelist of exceptions simplifies things significantly. The problem with this is that this is know as, using firewall language, as a default hate/deny policy. This is the same way our opposition works, so I would like to change to a default accept policy with a Blacklist of exceptions. However, this has not worked out well recently.</sorta_joke>

Limbaugh was using a metaphor to describe what the Dems were busily whipping up.. a Frankenstein scenario, where the townsfolk were banding together to drive off the evil thing… he wasn’t insulting ordinary people, just looking to describe a complex thing in few and vivid words.His point was that the Dems and the White House were TRYING to get the ‘peasants with pitchforks’ encircling AIG, and it seems to be working.Obama, Geithner, Treasury and both houses knew months ago that these bonuses would be paid, and there is specific language in the stimulus bill PROTECTING them from the GOVERNMENT demanding changes. It was supposed to happen, and they knew it would. My question is, why are they outraged now, when they PLANNED THIS?I agree bonuses with taxpayer dollars are stupid and a bad idea, but come on… don’t you feel the least bit manipulated by this big show?

These were retention bonuses meaning that they if they agreed to stay and do the job required of them they would be paid. It was not a bonus based on bad performance, but on retention. Liddy said today that the risks in having them NOT do this job would have put the 1.6 trillion+ dollars at greater risk by not have these people manage AIG business. The right people were kept informed, there was specific language in the stimulus bill allowing the bonuses, and now they are all up in arms about it. We should feel like cheap whores they way we are being used here. The decision was made that AIG had to succeed, hence the bailout. Yes it is a lot of money for these exec’s, however the importance of keeping these people at AIG to do the job to protect the 1.6 trillion+ bailout money was deemed the lesser risk. Did you want them all to leave and go to the competitors and have it all go down the tubes? Ok lets just pay them each 100K, watch them all leave and go somewhere else where they can get 10 times the pay, and see how these 100K per year exec’s can run it into the ground because they can’t find their asses with both hands. So AIG and the bailout money go down the drain. Everyone happy now??
