Lying Liar

Michele Bachmann on FOX Business Network:

I took a pledge in my own district. I have not taken earmarks in the last three years that I have been in Congress because the system is so corrupt.

And… WHOOPS! Bachmann requested $3,767,600 in earmarks in 2008.

2008 is within the last three years, yes?

Is she that fucking stupid that she doesn’t know these things can be checked? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!

  • jmrunning3

But she’s in the GOP, Carl. Saying it makes it TRUE! Facts and evidence, be damned!

  • Alan4s

In fact, according to Legistorm, Bachmann has requested 7 earmarks in Fiscal Year 2008 costing tax payers a total of $3,767,600. Some examples:- $94,000 for Sheriffs Youth Program of MN- $335,000 for Equipment Acquisition for Northland Medical Center- $803,000 for Replacement Small Buses, St. Cloud Metro Bus

Without digging in to the details, none of those exapmles seem like frivolous programs. So her argument, when called on it, is going to be something like “Yes, I asked for those, but not for any wastefull PORK earmarks.” And she’ll claim that was what she pledged. This whole stinking earmark discussion is just so out of hand, and such a ridiculous distraction from the important bussiness that these idiots should be paying attention to.And when a cumb dunt like her trips over her own deceptions it just makes it so much more preposterous.

You be da man?Oh God, I hate this woman…

It doesn’t matter that this stuff can be checked. Those people won’t use credible sources to check it and she knows it. They don’t have a clue how to distinguish between lies and truth and if they hear it repeated at church, then it must be the truth. Most of the people in her district are still recycling all those stupid chain emails from years ago because they believe they are all true.

Obama and Omnibus…No cameras for the signing.”I will put an end to earmarks” well except for this bill.Every politician we can just go ahead and pull this sort of thing on. Am I defending her, no, but keep in mind in happens on both sides, and when it comes to earmarks, I wander which side has the most? Honest question.

  • Christie

@JimTraditionally, whichever party has the majority has the most earmarks. Do the math. More Dems, more earmarks, and vice-versa for Repubs.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

I don’t remember the URL for the breakdown, but for the omnibus bill with 9,000 earmarks in it that the wrong wingers were going apeshit over the earmark breakdown as 49.8% Republican 50.2% democrat. Also on the top ten earmark spending per congressperson list 6 were Republicans and 4 were Democrats.Hypocrisy, they haven’t heard of it. Bachmann is an asshat. Keep drawing attention to an issue where your party holds the worst record. Brilliant! Please keep it up Michelle.

“because the system is so corrupt.”What the hell does that mean? Does the money come from bus-stop drug deals or something? Organ trafficking? What am I missing?

The sad part about this lie is, who is going to debunk it, Keith Oberman?Even if he does, the r right and conservative christians don’t watch him so they will not know she lied.It makes me so mad that Fox gets away with lies, more lies and even more lies.

Yea, Michelle…….. YOU BE DA MAN!!!

  • The Dogfather

Then again, this explains why Bachmann thinks that Michael Steele “be da man” — he’s equally incapable of telling the truth, as amply demonstrated by his GQ interview where he says he’s pro-choice and his 180 degree turnabout on that within 24 hours of its publication…Steele, Bachmann, and most of the Rushpublicans clearly think they can say whatever they want and that nobody’s paying attention. If only they were right on that…

Earmarks themselves are not inherently evil and the earmarks in this bill are 1-2% of the total package. Obama didn’t write this bill. It was written before he took office. He could have vetoed it over 2% of the total, but that would have entailed another congressional fight over spending so soon after the stimulus got passed. Sometimes, it’s better to pick your battles and start fresh with the next term. But, Jim, republicans wanted to posture and preen about how they were against earmarks. So yes, the fact that they were full of shit is going to be thrown back in their faces.Of course, if anyone confronts Bachman with this, she’ll just deny that those are earmarks because they’re good constituent service to strengthen the heartland.
