Media Stupid

Apparently Jake Tapper was the first to hype the Special Olympics story last night. And now he’s angry that it’s become such a media distraction — what with the economy, two wars, etc, etc. Of course, this is like pulling a fire alarm in a crowded mall then complaining about how there’s no shopping for an hour.

Anyway, Tapper has since blocked Adam Serwer from the American Prospect and David Kurtz from TPM from Tapper’s Twitter.

Then there’s the general MSNBC angle on this story today. Paraphrasing something Alex Witt asked a guest this morning: “Will this Special Olympics story become a big distraction in the media for the president?” I don’t know, Media Distraction Monger, you tell me.

The two swine are simply attempting to absolve themselves of responsibility. This Tapper dweeb is the biggest overreaching media dork bonehead ever, ain’t he?MSNBC daytime coverage is awful. Full of gossip-mongering and faux urgency. It’s very annoying.

Obama needs to say.., “My Special Olympics remark last night was rude and insensitive. I’m sorry.”Perhaps then the MSM let then let it go.

It was a stupid remark that would have gotten attention anyways, and I’m glad Obama apologized. That said, yes, Tapper is the tool who wrote the blog post “I just saw Obama and I think that I smelled cigarette smoke!”, and blocking someone on twitter is even more dumb than actually having twitter and being expected to be taken seriously.

Oh noes.. he made a non-PC joke… welcome to the world of people who arent very funny trying to be funny, it happens.Cheney told a member of congress to go fuck themself.

This coming from Alex Wittless is doubly painful only for the impression I get (and this is just my read) that she is a complete airhead on MSNBC, yes even compared to any ofthe other “anchors.”Yes, Alex, it’ll drag on and on, because you will keep asking if it’ll drag on and on.

Damn my syntax. I meant, “Perhaps then the MSM will let it go.”

I thought the point of Twitter was constant navel-gazing and letting anyone who wanted to to listen in. If they are going to act as censors as to who is allowed to listen in, then that’s a mailing list right? Or is Twitter basically a list anyway I’m confused, but doesn’t make sense for a journalist to censor information they intend for public consumption.

I want to express an opinion on this whole Special Olympics gaffe issue…the media response to it…Malkin and Anderson and I know Larry King will have a high functioning Rain Man on tomorrow to express how hurt he is…I WANT to express many things.Unfortunately, I’m still stuck in disbelieving dream state. That shocked place…stunned…deer in the headlights “this isn’t really happening – I’m gonna wake up in a moment” place.Oh…Barack. No.I only wish Joe Biden had been there to make that ‘STFU face’…the one BO made when Uncle Joe gagged his Chief Justice swearing-in joke.At this point, all I can say is: If there’s any blowback from that Rain Man line above…well…HA! See? Nada. I can make all the gags I want about spics, wops, spades, kikes, retards…/stunned

Avi: That reminds me of the line from Blazing Saddles… “Alright, we’ll take the niggers and the chinks… but not the Irish!”I was one of the few in the theater that laughed out loud at that one.

You know, while the President’s comment was thoughtless, to a certain extent it reassures me. For me it is a reminder that he is ‘human’/'normal’ [not that I really need a reminder]. Is there anyone out there who’s never stepped on someone else’s toes unwittingly? Why can’t the media be realistic and cut him some slack? Yes, point out his missteps, but can you do so without belabouring (ad infinitum)each one? It’s truly annoying to hear the same thing over and over and over – by people who themselves are less than perfect.

It was kind of funny this morning because his first tweet was “enough bile out there that i dont need it here on twitter.dialogue, yes. insults no. blog comment board and bathroom walls still avail 4 all”

its like fox news constantly complaining about how the “mainstream media” never reports any of the positive news from iraq.or like fox news complaining about how the “mainstream media” reported every stupid little mistake bush made, then proceeding to cover the latest irrelevant “mistake” made by pres. obama.
