Quote of the Day

“Just one thing I was thinking about as I was getting on the copter. It was hard for me to believe that you were entirely serious about that socialist question.”
—President Obama in response to the New York Times after a series of questions asking if he’s a socialist.

I want to know which reporter or reporters asked President Obama if he is a Socialist. After that, I want a follow-up from The New York Times as to why no reporter ever asked President George W. Bush if he was Socialist, or Fascist, or Nationalist Socialist or just stupidest.

When will they ask him if he’s really a terrorist hell-bent on destroying this country?

The entirety of the follow-up is even more awesome. What I especially love is that he never calls out the Republicans or the Bush Administration out by name, even when asked about “on whose watch” these problems started. And I get the sense that he’s not avoiding naming them from a “hedging” place, but more because he’s just got that much class, that he recognizes deeply that it’s counterproductive.

Bruno, I agree. It’s almost as if the journalist was trying to bait him, when he knew full well who Obama was talking about.
