    I second that first.

  • GItheJOE

I am posting this over here because I believe a troll thought I was attacking poor people and Clinton, WHICH I AM NOT!Ady, THANK YOU!Here you go ladies, gentlemen and neocons. THIS is why Obama and Geither are going through on what looks like a really dumb idea. This chart shows the OPTION ARMs resetting in 2011/12. What does that mean? That $1 Trillion dollars worth of mortgages are going to explode resulting in millions more foreclosures and a worse hit to the market. You can see that the last “BUBBLE” had a direct reflex on your 401K and the DIJA. Now, imagine a bubble twice that size happening again in 2 years. There isn’t one elected official that will let the DIJA go to 2000 points or let 20 million homes foreclose on their reelection year. This plan looks like shit but it is really the only way to unfuck the financial disaster created by the Graham/Leach/Billey Act and Clinton. Yes, I said Clinton. In 1999, our president allowed the GOP to strong arm him on the way out the door. This act enabled banks to make mortgages to poor people knowing they can’t afford them but didn’t give a shit because they were going to sell the mortgages before the ink was dry. This isn’t Obama’s mess and it needs to go away now! It is politically and patriotically the right move for the country. I have no desire to see what 1933 looked like. However, Timmy needs some damn help. He is running a skeleton crew and that isn’t fair or safe for our financial future as a country.Posted by: GItheJOE at March 21, 2009 5:03 PM

  • ceu

I love Cat Ballou. Best drunk horse ever!

  • Kite

Actually the deficit accrual can be directly traced to the Protected Homeowners Policy Act (PHiPA) passed in 2004 by a Republican Congress and signed by George Bush. In essence, PHiPA gave incentived margins to brokerages to fund subprime mortgages that would be bought by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and then sold on the open annuities market. This gave compensatory rewards for mortgage dealers to “sell” as many mortgages as possible, the broker would receive a fee and the loan would be insured by the federal government.

  • AdyLeigh

THANK YOU, GItheJoe…I was trying to put my finger on this all afternoon, but proved to be too far removed from my formal education to do so. In other words, I couldn’t quite get from point ‘A’ to point ‘Z’. You laid it out perfectly. Thanks again.BTW if that EVEN BIGGER bubble does burst, y’all will find me hiding under my bed for the next few years…

  • GItheJOE

Ady, if you don’t want the giant bubble of death to kill all of us than we need spread the word on why it is important to support President Obama and Timmy.Kite, this is kind of a chicken and the egg thing. But the removal of Glass Steagall was criminal at best.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

GItheScholar -Thank you for the excellent posts today. Looks like you’ve been paying attention.

  • TravisTheChimp

To my mate GI….this is Obama’s mess. Perhaps you may not have noticed between Bush bashings but Mr Obama was elected president of the United States and thus the economy is HIS responsibility. Unfortunatley this mess he inherited is getting dirtier and deeper as he passes more bills that increase our deficit and fail to restore the banking system, our spinal cord for loans and trusts that lend capital for new businesses and as a result jobs.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

The removal of Glass Steagall was criminal and insane.Boner is a lying sack of shit. I believe he voted for that removal and yet claims he had nothing to do with deregulation.

  • TravisTheChimp

Anyone else here feel tha Bob Herbert and Gail Collins of the NYT are absolutely worthless journalists of no merit?

  • ceu

WooHoo – Greg Kinnear on Graham Norton! :) eye candy for a Sat. evening.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Travis -WHATEVER.You’re never going to change our minds. We know which band of bandits put our asses into this sling and don’t plan on letting them slither away.If you want to keep sucking corporatist cock, then fine with me. But watch out for your lips because we plan on some corporatist castrations.Bitch and moan. The socialists have taken over and your greedy corporatist playground is getting torn down. You’re going to have to play by rules and not just the rules you make.Get used to it.

  • LImyBeerTAstyand ReaDy

Obama has a great struggle against him as he forges forward with new ideas and tries to fulfill his promises of hope and change. Barry isone of us and I feel most strongly thathe has the interests of the working class at heart as he himslef struggled, first in an exclusive prep school in Hawaii and then Occidebtal College, Columbia, and Harvard.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl™

Anyone else here feel tha Bob Herbert and Gail Collins of the NYT are absolutely worthless journalists of no merit?

No, but I’ll throw Charles Krauthammer and David Brooks in that category. And yes, this is Obama’s mess NOW, but I suppose with all the Obama bashing you didn’t notice that Bush squandered away a budget surplus and maybe didn’t hear Dick Cheney’s “deficits don’t matter” theory.

  • TravisTheChimp

Git the Bloke….you kid me! Your country is in shambles and is the stock of Europe. The dollar will be replaced and Russia is tightening the noose pn our eastern most Union with tariffs on petrol and your president is impotent…his approaches have been summarily dismissed by the Kremlin as fetching. Thanks much for the CD collection. Perhaps I should send you royal rea for your next party!Cheers!

  • iLIkemyBeerTastyAndReaDy

I am convinced the Obama’s current tact in this storm will land us on more solid financial ground in the future. We need to trust in the captain.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl™

…as he himslef struggled, first in an exclusive prep school in Hawaii and then Occidebtal College, Columbia, and Harvard.

And he just finished paying off his student loans. I wonder how much the Compassionate Conservative had to borrow to attend Philips Andover Academy, Yale and Harvard Business School? Please don’t drivel about subjects you know nothing of.

Chimp,Where the fuck are you from? I hate to break this to you brother/sister but if you haven’t been fucked in the ass by W’s old dick for the last 8 years you can’t say shit about shit.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl™

Sorry, I meant “You’re asking for the moon, KYLE.”

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Travis -One more thing. Recounting historical facts is not ‘bashing.’ It’s called history.Calling Bush a faux Texas rancher is not bashing, it is stating a fact.Calling Bush incompetent is not bashing, it’s an accurate assesment based on his performance. If Bush wanted to look better in history books then maybe he should have spent more time in the oval office doing his job and less time clearing brush in Crawford. We would have much less problems now if Bush had appointed competent people. The FTC approved every merger for the past eight years. According to them no bank can be too big. Now we discover that the five banks we have left after the merger frenzy are all too big to fail and have to be bailed out. Bush can’t slither away from this fact. His ‘raid the treasury’ government has really, really, fucked this country and it’s the gift that keeps on taking. We’ll be bailing out shit that was allowed to become too big to fail for quite some time.Sorry, it’s George’s fault, not Barack’s. Your propaganda to the contrary might fool the ignorant, but there are no sheeple here. The Republican mantra of the George W. Bush era is privatize the profits socialize the losses. So you see, they believe in welfare and socialism too. But only if the money flows from the U.S. treasury into corporations. Bush has been an Orgasmatron™ of an administration for the corporatists. They got to fuck the U.S. citizens long, hard, and often. This is coming to a halt. Now.

  • iLIkemyBeerTastyAndReaDy

Git,Of course ! I agree with you wholeheartedly!:)What the heck, replace one incompetent beneficiary of the oldboy network with an equally incompetent beneficiary of the old boy network. For both, their fathers gave them they key to the golden door.

  • TravidTheChimp

Sorry Git, those banking policies that you cite were passed by the current Democrat controlled Congress. Three cheers for Nancy “child laborer” Pelosi.

  • iLIkemyBeerTastyAndReaDY

Both savants(BushObama) were uniquely unqualified for every position that they held and both were ghastly unprepared for the executive office. Bush got to where he was because of family money and Obama by race.We can do better than both.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Broadway Carl said:”I’ll throw Charles Krauthammer and David Brooks in that category.”I agree on Brooks. He’s a total wast of skin.Krauthammer approaches worthlessness without quite getting there. He writes something intelligent once in a great while.

  • veralynn

Git, I would have said Brooks over Krauthammer. I have not ever read anything by Krauthammer worth reading. Brooks, I have. And I am confused by the beertasty guy

  • fe

libtardy, can you please come up with something less lazy than ‘ooh, Bush and Obama are the same!’? It’s intellectually lazy hipsterism. No, hipsterism is not a word.

  • TravisTheChimp

What most disturbs me about Americans is their narcissistic obsession with their conceived importance. You Yanks produce no marketable goods, you consume the major supply of petrol and contribute overwhelmingly to the pollution that afflicts the entire planet.

  • fe

okay, he’s definitely arguing with himself.

  • jane

Hey Fe, my non-productive ass is gonna ride my two-stroke scooter cross-country next week. Aren’t I important? USA! USA! or something.

  • fe

    cool, come see me!

  • GItheJOE

Travis, we produce a lot of missiles. Where are you again?

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Bush’s grandpappy, Prescott, was a Nazi cheerleader. He wanted the U.S. to support Germany over Britain. He thought Adolf was the cat’s pajamas. Fascism/Corporatism runs deep in that family.

  • jane

    Joe: niiiiice.

  • fe

he did more than cheerlead, silly: Prescott gave the Nazis proprietary technology from IBM to help them make a database of Jews.

  • veralynn

damn fe, I didn’t know thatdidn’t Henry Ford do that too? or did he just give money?

  • GItheJOE

Thank you, jane. America is going to spend $10 billion dollars on just fucking missiles this year. I think we can spare a tomahawk or a predator for Mr. Chimp.

  • TravisTheChimp

The US is on the precipice and you ranters can only look over your shoulder rather than build a rope bridge to cover the crevace. Most of Europe has started to shift their investments to India and China.

  • fe

I think Ford just donated money. I could be way off base on this, but I think the Nazis had VWs by that time, and didn’t need any of Ford’s vehicles.

  • jane

I was kidding about cheap beer, guys. I can’t stand cheap beer lately. I wash my hair with Chimay.

  • veralynn

thanks fe, very interesting. of course, I found out about Ford from the very smart people on the PTT. Never knew about his Nazi background until I read it here.

  • GItheJOE

Chimp, thanks for the investment advice. It is impossible to buy foreign stocks in the US.*Opens E Trade account and shorts the yen*

    Travis -

What most disturbs me about Americans is their narcissistic obsession with their conceived importance. You Yanks produce no marketable goods, you consume the major supply of petrol and contribute overwhelmingly to the pollution that afflicts the entire planet.

You are infringing my Captain Obvious intellectual policy.I’m well aware of the facts you state and am also aware that most Americans are provincial twits without a clue about the rest of the world. If you are not in the U.S. then what are you doing on this site? This is a political commentary site where the politics being commented on are U.S. politics. If you want to harass U.K. liberals I can suggest a few sites that I track. I’ve lost my bookmarks to the Australian liberal blogs that I was tracking. At the moment, the U.S. is in very, very, deep shit so perhaps you’ll understand if we concentrate on our own problems. If you are offended that we are ignoring your country, well you can go fuck yourself. We’re too busy to be bothered right now. The last idiot dictator left a huge fucking mess. We are not at all certain that it can be cleaned up.

  • iLIkemyBeerTastyAndReaDy

Mr Obama is quite the jet setter… scoots out of town for Leno to avoid the Press Corps as the AIG scandal unfolds. He keeps Geithner on despite resounding evidence that he is incompetent (maybe O keeps him in office as he makes serves as a scapegoat). O has forfeited on his campaign promises to (1)eradicate earmarks, (2) ban lobbyists from cabinet positions(3) withdraw alll troops from Iraq within 16 months of taking office, and (4) transparency-not a single bill has been made available for public review.

  • TravisTheChimp

Mr Rat…I am residing temporarily (thank God)in the City of Angels and can hardly wait to return home to Australia, a country with a robust economy and a national health care system that works. The differences between us Aussies and you Yanks is that we are capable of getting things done. Europe is now our major ally.Goodnight and Good riddance to the USA!!!

  • veralynn

How many times do we have to tell the trolls to stop saying President Obama did not make a campaign promise to “eradicate earmarks”?That was the old guy, not Obama. Obama said he would “reform earmarks”.I am sure it is somewhere on the you tube, go look it up.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Daimler (Mercedes) built cars trucks and tanks for the German war effort as did VW. BMW made aircraft engines. Ford gifted some technology related to assembly lines IIRC.IBM has been sued over the tabulation machines Prescott arranged for Germany. There was nothing wrong with selling that equipment other than what it was used for.

Guess Chimpy isn’t getting laid as much as it wanted in LA.

  • veralynn

I doubt he’s actually Australian, but if he is, he’s a terrible representation of his country.

  • veralynn

He brought up Australia, which reminds me did anyone see the lead singer of Midnight Oil is part of the government now? I forget what post he holds, but how cool is that?I realized I just dated myself with this reference, lol

  • TravisTheChimp

Veralynnn you are right Obama never said the he would eliminate earmarks.Take your pickhttp://video.google.com/videosearch?hl=en&q=obama%20and%20earmarks&gbv=2&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iv#

Chimpster, thought you were leaving. Lucky us!

  • SillyRatfacedGit

I wonder how many intel and AMD microprocessors are designed in Europe and Australia. I know that some of intel’s were designed in Isreal.A good deal of AMD’s fabrication is done in Germany but more than half is still done in the U.S.Intel makes ICs all over the world but their biggest fabs are in Arizona and New Mexico. It’s not quite correct that we don’t make anything that people want. If you don’t use intel, AMD, or IBM processors I don’t know what kind of computer you’ll have. I would point to Microsoft, but no one should be using that garbage anyway.TravisTheChimp -You have proven that Australia has assholes too. You’re the first asshole from Australia I’ve ever encountered. I have many internet friends in Australia and New Zealand. Several that I also knew in meatspace when they and I were in L.A. working on an embedded system together.

  • veralynn

first off, don’t give me faux news as a real “news” channelsecond, read thishttp://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/11/obama.earmarks/thirdly, earmarks are the way congresspeople create jobs in their districts. What Obama wants to do is make the process more open to all of us, including constituents of the particular congressperson requesting the money. This is how post offices get built, interstates are built and repaired. Earmarks are not necessarily bad things. They should send money back home, but they should also be for the public good, not for corporations, which is what has happened over the last 8 years. If you aren’t American, what does it matter to you how we spend our money?

  • ceu

Bridge collapsed today in MS. Too bad some Congresscritter who supposedly cares about his/her constituency didn’t earmark funds for its repair earlier, eh?

  • SillyRatfacedGit

veralynn -You are right about Brooks. I remembered backwards. Senior moment I guess.

  • veralynn

that’s alright Git, I have several of those a day@ceu, exactly

  • TravisTheChimp

Coming from a country that performs face transplants after pet chimpanzee attacks I take no offense. By the way, nearly every American I have met is a flaming A-hole, congrats on the one thing you Yanks can be consistent on.We’ll leave Afghanistan to you and your new president, leave us out of this mess. Now fuck off little man before I teach you some proper manners.

  • fe

    this is an odd troll.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

TravisTheChimp -All will be forgiven if you take Rupert Murdoch back to Australia and take away his passport. We gotten tired of his notion of news. Propaganda is not news, it’s advertising.

  • veralynn

“What Obama wants to do is make the process more open to all of us, including constituents of the particular congressperson requesting the money.”reverse that, it should have read, more open to the constituents of the congressperson and to all of usI am just happy I spelled constituent correctly, several times

  • TravisTheChimp

Instead of manners, which I have realized are an impossible achievement for Americans, perhaps I could teach you proper English grammar and spelling .

  • veralynn

yes, please take Murdoch back when you goand take all those people on the air and behind the scenes with you, please

  • veralynn

    I said please didn’t I? twice

  • jane

    >>The differences between us Aussies and you Yanks isI don’t get schooled by ignorant assholes.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

You know something Travis? If you stopped acting like an insufferable flaming cunt, people might stop treating you like one.

  • jane

    >>Unfortunatley (sic) this mess he inherited is getting dirtier and deeper as he passes more bills that increase our deficit and fail to restore the banking system, our spinal cord for loans and trusts that lend capital for new businesses and as a result jobs.Whose deficit, Chimpy? Please be consistent while trolling.

  • jane

I wouldn’t piss on his cunt it it were on fire.

  • TravisTheChimp

Well Miss Jane you are noy only ignorant but a Nazi. Yes, you and all of your compatriots are Nazi equivalents.Surley you blame the citizens of Nazi Germany of guilt in the collection of Jews and the construction of death camps. You Americans are guilty of the barbaric and unprovoked invasion of Iraq and the isolation and torture of Iraqi civilians. There were no street protests, save for the scattered few when the war started . You enjoyed the prosperity and security of living in the US when these crimes were openly being committed and you are guilty for doing nothing to stop it.You were comfortable and safe and prosperous and ignored these facts. Europe didn’t.Anyone here tonight arrested for protest or treason? Anyone chain themselves to the White House fence? Anyone here divest in the US?Then blood and shame are on your hands and souls. What is happening to America is karma.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

And don’t judge America by L.A. or NYC. Neither place is very representative of the U.S. as a whole. Both are havens of excess and both are filled with people that couldn’t be polite if their lives depended on it.L.A. actually stands for Loaded with Assholes. There are a few people in L.A. that are not assholes but good luck finding them. I met about a dozen that were not assholes when I spent six months there. I have no plans to go back.In NYC, people are in a hurry so politeness gets overlooked. Lots of assholes but not like L.A.Visit Seattle, Portland (OR or ME), Milwaukee or St. Louis. The residents of those cities are more representative of what most Americans are like. Even Napa valley in northern CA is more representative.

  • SillyRatfacedGit

The street protest here are not shown by our corporatist controlled propaganda dispensers that call themselves News Networks. You will find youtube video of many protests. None were every televised by any news network. There was a large numberamount of protesters at the RNC last summer. The only video and pictures were on youtube and such.Bush car in his Inaugural parade was egged by thousands of protesters. If you never saw Fahrenheit 911, then you never saw those protesters either. You are really going to piss me off if you are going to hold me responsible for what George W. Bush the fascist criminal oath breaking bastard decided to do. I did every thing I could to stop him from invading Iraq. I supported impeachment. I still want him brought to justice. I want to see his ass in the Hague. I hope the Europeans demand his extradition. They might.

  • veralynn

Git- your restraint amazes meSeriously, I am very impressed I cannot deal with this guy, politely anyway–and I am southern! I will just say, bless his heart

  • TravisTheChimp

Save your rotten eggs…such a show of protest! On you tube, how safe and clean.Did you throw socks at the tellie when Bush came on the news, too? The same excuse was given for the slaughter of American Indians, the American enslavement of Africans, and the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany .Explain your complicity in the slaughter of innocent Iraqis in your Holy War to your grandchildren. And your support of zionist Israel!!!Americanazis, all of you!!!

  • SillyRatfacedGit

You are obtuse.I’ll say it again. There have been thousands of very large protests in the U.S. over this war. Videos of these protests are on YouTube. Our corporate propaganda networks never cover these events. Corporate News Network, Fixed News, all of them ignore these events.Your Nation’s record on the Aborigines is nothing to be proud of. Some of that outrage is rather recent. We’ve all seen Rabbit-Proof Fence. So how much control do you personally have over what Kevin Rudd decides to do? I had even less over what George did. He made himself Dictator unanswerable to anyone. On the other hand, I was right the first time. You are an insufferable flaming cunt.I look forward to you not being in my country. Please don’t come back.Good thing I know better than to judge Australia based on you.

  • Alex

And since it’s such a big fucking deal to you why aren’t you doing something you arrogant fucking tool. You certainly talk a big game but if it’s of such great concern to you what exactly are you doing besides blowing massive amounts of smoke out your vagina? And don’t even try to give me the lame “it’s not my country” excuse. If you’re going to pull some historical guilt trip on us then I expect you and your country might have done anything remotely significant regarding any of those issues. Or ya know, not have similar problems with “removing” indigenous people. Where is your “outrage” on the Iraq war other than on an internet forum?
