Sending It Back

The Republicans are acting like they really don’t need the votes.

Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) will announce today that he is blocking the state from accepting $550 million for expanded unemployment benefits as part of the federal stimulus package.

And now we wait until the rest of Texas laughs in this guy’s face and says “UHHHH No” like Louisiana did.

  • Elena

Well, as Arnie said–send your unwanted stimulus to me, I’ll take it.

See, this is why I don’t live in Texas anymore. If I could scoop Austin out, the whole state could slide into the Gulf of Mexico without bothering me a bit.

Matt,I met a rowing coach from Austin who was visiting up here in Alaska last summer. I commented that Austin seemed like a pretty nice city. He replied that “unfortunately, it’s surrounded by Texas.”

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Packy -Having been to Dallas, Fort Worth, and Austin I’d say that coach is correct. If I had to live in TX, it would have to be Austin. Dallas is a nice place to visit, but I couldn’t live there.

Is this guy a communist?http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2009/03/12/a_head_with_a_heart/?s_campaign=yahooOr, is he really showing what a troubled business can do?Has the “social contract” been lost?

Right and the wingnuts say the same about California. Those of us in Texas who don’t live in Austin do get tired of being written off. I live in Dallas County we voted blue in 2006 and 2008. Be patient. The state is turning blue. And Prick Perry is an idiot.

Cool article, Mr. thespacecowboy but um…one question about one question: The ‘E’ in CEO can sometimes stand for empathy? Lame ending for an article, or the lamest ending?

Yeah, he’ll get his money from president chuck norris of the independent republic of texas (No I didn’t forget to capitalize – small people and small agendas deserve lower case)I personally think we should let texas secede! Fuck ‘em! Let ‘em pay for their own defense too! Oh, and the next time there’s a hurricane – fuck ‘em!Let them take oklahoma with ‘em! Maybe kansas will get the drift!

Very true El…(Also, many apologies for the attempted threadkack and OT post – I usally put up a warning on that.)

I’m with you, Eve. I’m a lifelong Texan and proud leftist. The state has been swinging to the Democrats and we almost have the House in the state legislature. I love Austin but there are other great towns and places in the state. I’m from Houston and I loved it there. DFW isn’t my place, feels more like south Oklahoma. Come on, KansasDem don’t condemn the whole state.Anyways, Rick Perry is a joke. Tell me, why is it that governors like Jindal, Perry and others talking of sending it back aren’t ever accused of class warfare? Raising the income tax for the top bracket to what it was in the 90′s is a declaration of war. However, denying the lower classes an attempt to have enough money to get through to getting another job is somehow acceptable?
