Shep Smith is… Sarcasmo!

There’s some clear anger under that mockery. Smith considers himself a reasonably even-handed news anchor there — I can’t imagine he’s too thrilled by the prospect of promoting Beck who is a parody of a satire of a cartoon of a far-right cable news pundit. With a punch-me face.

UPDATE: From Chez Pazienza in the comments:

I worked closely with Shep in Miami and we were poker buddies in L.A. I consider him a good friend. He’s a really great guy with a very level head — not real big on bullshit. Which would make me wonder what he’s doing at Fox if it weren’t for the fact that he knows which side his bread is buttered on and is enjoying that really nice paycheck they’re giving him. As much as Fox is a joke of a network, it’s kind of good to have Shep there to highlight the place’s bombastic insanity from the inside out simply by being the slyly subversive voice of reason.

Shep is definitely a fair-minded anchor trapped in an ocean of crazy. Here’s one of my favorite Shep Smith moments. And here’s Shep nailing Joe the Plumber.

I think I like that guy. (Don’t know anything about him other than what I just saw.)

  • GItheJOE

Shep, needs to get away from the blackhole that is Fox news. I watched him tell OReilly that people were looting stores during Katrina for food and OReilly called him a liar. Plus, he called him a lair for saying that FEMA wasn’t helping anyone and people needed the government to help them.

I’ve never heard of Shep Smith, probably because I can’t bring myself to watch Fox News… but based on that clip, alone, he’s not too bad.

Sarcasmo! Great one.Does he have a Choda Boy? I volunteer if not.

Looks like it might be time for Smith to switch over to MSNBC, although judging be the Cramer silence that took place on Friday, what’s the difference?

Was that a veiled threat that he better support glen beck or he was outta there? My God, can’t the people at Fox news disagree with each other or do they have to march Lock step with one another like good little natzi’s

  • SillyRatfacedGit

Good picture of Orgasmo and Choda Boy.And one of just Choda Boy.

Shepard Smith has long been a source of (some) sanity on FNC. Plus, he’s amusing. Great to see him mocking Beck.

  • AdyLeigh

Man, that cracked me up. Said Shep: “He will be joining us from his fear chamber DI-rectly. We’re here to celebrate, worship, and adore!”High five to the poor Shepard boy…

  • bibimimi

Shep may wanna consider getting the eff outta Fox. He should go to CNN Headline News. There’s a gaping [a] hole there since Beck left.

Shep Smith is the most tolerable thing about Fox News, not that there are a lot of options. I remember him doing a good interview and grilling Joe The Plumber during the elections.

Actually, I’ve very much liked Shep Smith whenever I’ve seen him. When they talk about “fair and balanced” they basically mean “Shep Smith.” I do wish he could make it on some other network.QT

I propose a trade of Joe Doucheborough for Shep Smith.

“I propose a trade of Joe Doucheborough for Shep Smith.”great idea, cminri.Never watch Fox, had never seen this guy. Way too much sense of humor for Fox.Wallace appears to have no sense of humor.

Leave Shep be where the crazy provokes him.He needs it, and it needs him. That’s about as fair and balanced as it gets.

  • TheNovak

Hey, let’s not get all overly gushy with Shep. There are a LOT of occasions where he’s stepped up and displayed his independence against the FNC lock-step, and those are the ones us non-viewers usually hear about. But, as someone who lives in a house where Fox News is near-constant background noise, trust me when I say that he’s not always a shining beacon of fairness and balance. He works at FNC for a reason.

Wow, when did Shepard Smith start adding in a sarcastic personality on air? I have seen him much of the time in the past as being a more vanilla Fox News host, but still towing the line. Maybe I mislead myself about him because he works for Fox News? I went back and watched some videos of him, and he doesn’t seem as bad as I though. But maybe he has finally cracked, and is finally sick of Fox News’ bullshit? Maybe he’s pissed because Glenn Beck came to Fox News recently and might have gotten a higher starting salary than him, with Shep having been around there for a while?
