Special Olympics Outrage

Attention Michelle Malkin and the self-righteous tea baggers:

The biggest single chunk of money that Palin is turning down is about $170 million for education, including money that would go for programs to help economically disadvantaged and special needs students. Anchorage School Superintendent Carol Comeau said she is “shocked and very disappointed” that Palin would reject the schools money. She said it could be used for job preservation, teacher training, and helping kids who need it.

Yeah, the president screwed up. But Palin is deliberately refusing money to help special needs kids.

i saw on a site that the leading pro of the special olympics wants to challenge obama. that would be an awesome way to squash all this!

The thing is when Obama sticks his foot in his mouth, as we all do from time to time, he immediately admits it and apologizes.Case in point: remember the comment about not relying on a psychic? Once he realized that had been a snub to Nancy Reagan he apologized.Compare that to being asked what mistakes you’ve made and not being able to recall a darn one!

Adding – and NOT meant as criticism – I cringe a bit every time Bob refers to the “spazzy” guys on Wall Street.I suffer from myoclonic “jerks” (aka: seizures), so I look pretty damn “spazzy”, but I understand the context in which it’s being used!No biggy! Bob’s still one of my favorite writers!

Let us not forget the infamous white house video where Bush talked about not finding any weapons of mass destruction there. Jokes about death and destruction, now that’s funny!

kansasdem, when bob says “spazzy” i visualize flop sweat, panic, and tears, not seizure-ish movements. not to belittle your opinion on the word “spazzy” but i don’t think bob means it like that at all.

See, but there is another high school term that taken at its core can be offensive, but the meaning has morphed into something different.Spazz – clumsy, not athletically inclined, panicky.I’m not pointing you out kd, but sometimes we all reach the threshold of PC overreaction.I have a feeling this non-story is unfortunately going to stick for days.

Bob and Gypsy,No apology (or explanation) necessary! It’s all about “context”! The same goes for what Obama said. He was not making fun of people with disabilities – he was making fun of himself!I didn’t mean to sound “offended”. Sorry if I came across that way. I was trying to make a point.Limbaugh going all “herky-jerky” imitating Micheal J. Fox was totally diffferent than Obama’s poorly worded, off-hand comment. And Limbaugh has never apologized!

Palin is playing election politics. She knows her state legislature can vote to accept the funds, and she has no recourse. But for a moment, she gets to look like a fiscal conservative. This pretty common for all politicians, who are much more interested in what they look like, than what they actually do.
