The Mel Gibson Component

O’Reilly aired his ridiculous ambush of Amanda Terkel last night and it actually made O’Reilly look worse than before. If you recall, Terkel is the ThinkProgress reporter who called out O’Reilly’s statement in which he blamed a rape on a victim’s clothing and alcohol consumption.

She was 5-foot-2, 105 pounds, wearing a miniskirt and a halter top with a bare midriff. Now, again, there you go. So every predator in the world is gonna pick that up at two in the morning.

I say again: Fuck you, O’Reilly.

So he dispatched a stalker who secretly trailed Terkel all the way to Winchester, Virginia and then questioned her on camera.

In the video, the Factor Stalker repeatedly grills Terkel about the “Mel Gibson Component.” As if this elusive “Mel Gibson Component” would make O’Reilly’s statement somehow acceptable.

It doesn’t. It makes it worse. Here’s O’Reilly’s so-called “Mel Gibson Component”:

I think it’s safe to say that if Mel Gibson didn’t get drunk, he wouldn’t be in this terrible situation he finds himself in. And if a young woman, 18-year-old Jennifer Moore of Harrington Park, NJ, didn’t get drunk, she’d be alive today.

Yeah, so, fuck you, O’Reilly. This definitely makes it worse. He’s still laying the blame on the victim, but now he’s comparing a guy who got drunk, was pulled over for DUI and then blurted out random anti-Semitic and misogynistic remarks — to a woman who was raped and murdered. Gibson got what was coming to him. Is O’Reilly suggesting the same about Jennifer Moore? It sure looks that way.

More of the same ‘Logic”.It is the fault of the person hit by a drunk driver. If they had not been in the way, they would not have been hit, RIGHT??????Typical of the RR conservative republicans, NO FAULT AT ALL FOR THE RESPONSIBLE PARTY.It the Iraqi’s had just gotten out of the way of the bombs, they would not have been killed.I wonder what will happen to Bill O when he can no longer totally control his world.

I wonder what will happen when one of these Rushpublican cancervatives goes McVeigh again and blows up another federal building, and they find out that he spent weeks listening to nothing but O’Lielly and Rush — will the massacre then be the fault of O’Lielly and Rush, or will it be the fault of the victims again?

  • Zaphod Beeblebrox

I suppose in Bill-O’s world, it’s Andrea Mackris’ fault that he harassed her and had to pay millions(?) to settle out of court. She obvioulsy wanted him to call her repeatedly and describe his loufa fantasies.

If another one “goes McVeigh again,” it will be the liberals’ fault for taking his money and driving him to desperation. Rush and Billo simply brought him the truth, and he couldn’t tolerate it anymore. You can’t win with these people. If you say anything that could be construed or misquoted as improper, they’ll string you up. But if something a conservative says or does leads to problems, it’s our fault for making them have to say it in the first place.

Where was Terkel’s pepper spray and the audio of the 911 call she placed about a stalker right before O’Reilly’s producer got hauled off to jail?

  • Handel

O’Reilly and his stalker minion are dead wrong on this issue and anytime anyone throws around the “she was asking for it” qualificiation they should be immediately and loudly rebuked. I’m not taking this at face value because of the source but, in O’Reilly’s piece, he says that there were protesters at the fundraiser Billo spoke at. I would hope thats not the case. Letters to the organizer of the event pointing out the hypocricy of Billo’s presence and blogging re the terrible choice are more appropriate measures. I wouldn’t want to do anything to dissuade people from contributing to an organization that helps victims.

When normal people say something stupid, they simply say, “I’m sorry, I misspoke” and move on. It takes a special kind of fuckwad like Bill-O the Clown to keep attacking people while simultaneously playing the victim.

Maybe a group of us could stalk O’Reilly at his speaking engagements wearing some “Andrea Mackris” tee shirts, and pepper him with questions about his sexual harassment case.

O’Coward is ‘asking’ for it, too.I won’t say what “it” is, though.Billy believes he can intimidate folks from afar as a spectator sport for his lame show, I suppose. He’s a delicate little bitch that is more comfortable being a bully and a boor when a camera is on him, I know that much.
