‘The New McCarthyism’

Wow. Media Matters is a treasure trove of crazy tonight. Rush Limbaugh along with the same FOX News anchor who aired the doctored clip of the vice president rolled out the McCarthy references today. Yep. The same organizations that have been accusing the president and the Democrats of being socialists, communists and Marxists are now worried about McCarthyism?

I wonder if my good friend Joe Scarborough will wheel out the McCarthy line tomorrow.

Yep, the wingnuts are lining up with AIG and big corporations. Awesome. The corpses of the Sons of Liberty are throwing up in their mouths.

Adding… Sorry, Shep Smith fans. He did it, too. Disappointing.

    Shep, like Chris Matthews, sometimes has to fall in line with corporate interests. That’s the price they pay for being honest other times.QT

    Wait, won’t this put them at odds with Sean Hannity? Cos man, that guy hates the Rosenbergs.

    Predictably, Scarborough probably will.

    Up is down and black is white.FUX News is much more like a comedy channel than a news channel. You cannot make this shit up, they’re nuts!

    Wingnutia is now running the following algorithm until they figure out how to either remove Obama or neutralize him.bool mud_sticking = FALSE;while (mud_sticking == FALSE) {mud = grab_new_mud() ; // obtain new random mudthrow_mud_at_wall(mud) ;test_mud_sticking (mud_sticking) ; // does it stick?}

    You know what, if it were only the guys who still work for AIG Financial Products- essentially, AIG’s hedge fund- receiving a bonus, I might be all non-nonplussed about this. Because this is corporate culture, after all. And the way the game is played it’s: heads, you win. Tails, you break even (that’s Barney Frank’s description). There’s no downside for these jokers. Whatever. That’s how it is. But, to pay a bonus to certain individuals who are no longer employed by the company- well shit, how the hell does that happen?I guess everyone’s read Elliot Spitzer’s take on this matter (if you haven’t, you should): how the real scandal involves AIG and their payouts of taxpayer money to numerous counterparties. He is correct, and so I wonder why this does not seem to be getting the appropriate attention?
