    I think it’s interesting that the inscription by the Southern sympathizer, L.E. Engels, who put it there in Sept. of 1864, is not being mentioned. He obviously was the one who scrawled ‘Jeff Davis’ inside the watch.So, the folks at the Smtithsonian were not the first to view original inscription in 147 years. Mr. Engels saw it 143 1/2 years ago.I wonder why the Media didn’t mention everything that was there?
