The White House Garden

The First Lady is breaking ground on a White House organic vegetable garden.

As a fanatical tomato gardener and White House geek, I love this news.

According to the White House Historical Association, John Adams was the first president to install a vegetable garden on the grounds. More White House gardening factoids here. For example:

Andrew Jackson created the White House orangery, an early type of greenhouse where tropical fruit trees and flowers can be grown, and added more trees, including the famous Jackson magnolia, to the White House grounds in 1835.

First! Will this vegitible garden include those speshial people the O-Blame-A insulted last night on Leno?Or head injury patients from Iraq who wouldn’t be injured if me and my crazy buddies didn’t support invading Iraq in the first place.

I make a move that we impeach TruthSerum from the GDAB via an IP ban.Just a suggestion!

Did you see the segment on 60 Minutes on Sunday? It was about the woman who has pushed for more organic gardens, especially in schools where kids are growing & cooking their own foods. Interesting bit. At any rate, she said that one of her fondest wishes would be for the WH to have an organic veggie garden – that it would be a great example to the country. One woman’s wish is coming true… :)

as an eco-chick, i love that she is doing this!truthserum…i would check your own vocabulary before passing judgement on anyone. or do you not even know what you’re implying with words such as “libtard”?

    I second Kyle’s motion.

Nice touch Bob, but your editing of my post was a bit too obvious, even for your fans. Now where’d I put my rubber pants and video about the bionic yeti conspiracy?

I’m guessing that John Adams owns quite a few White House firsts…

Hee hee…pretty good Bob. May all your tomatoes have blossom rot this season! Wow. Now I’m cursing Bob’s veggie garden. I’m so crazy – it’s insane how crazy I am.

Why does TartSerum hate gardening? I revoke his curse! Bob – have you ever used red plastic mulch?I’m glad the WH is going to have an organic garden! Let’s hope it’s truly organic and not some greenwash. I hereby vote myself in charge of the WH Compost pile. The actual one, not the maggot infested one known as Congress.
